Boys! Boys! All these accusations this year and over the years past about whether or not HHS ran the score up on some team(s) is just ridiculous. If he really wanted to beat CovCath by more than 61 this year he would have. Were any one of the accusers at any of HHS's games this year or years past? Probably not! So to say HHS will run up the score on Scott is also a joke. HHS will score as many points as Scott allows then to score. Whether it be Varsity, JV, or Freshman, the goal is to get into the end zone. So get over yourselves and get better!:banana:

Spencer Bankamper and Corey Compton will have big nights. I see the JV in for the bulk of the game for this one, and a LOT of running in the second half.

Any word on Josh Connor and if he may make his debut this week to atleast get some reps, or do they wisely rest him in a game that clearly could be won by the fully loaded JV! It seems that our JV program could rival some Varsity programs. Great Job, keep it up boys. I think that Scott is better and much due to the groundwork laid by the previous coach Mr. Fisk, now an assistant at Cov Cath. I think that this new coach may have added a tweak or two of his own, but Casey laid the ground work with these players. Good luck Scott and let's come out and have a good clean game.

Josh was in uniform today at practice. Didn't participate in much of anything. It is good to see him on the field. My opinion would be not play him this week to allow additional healing if needed. But my opinion doesn't count.

Why would Josh even worry about playing this game in his condition. No offense to Scott, but lets be honest they are going to go down wether or not Josh is in the game. So why even risk it?

Josh is "testing the waters". See how the injury feels during, after, and a day or so after the game. Can shut it down if necessary...or crank it up! The goal is to have him for the state run!

Highlands in the 50's to Scott's 0-12 with them scoring late in the game. The HHS defense has really stepped it up lately with Roller, Rosie, and Head leading the charge.

 

I look for Crawford, Finnell, and Connor to each carry the ball around 10 times each and then we'll see the JV the rest of the game as it will be out of reach by halftime.

He's been cleared by the doctors to play, so why not play him if he feels he's ready? I think it will be a good game to ease him back. Let him get a few carries this week. Let him get even a few more carries next week. Use the bye week to further bring him along conditioning wise. Hopefully by Madison Central he'll be close to full speed and by the Lou. Central, he'll be back to full speed. I'd rather gradually bring him back than just wait until he has to go full go the full game. And trust me, we have some games coming up that it will be nice having him go full go the full game (and trust me, I mean no disrespect to Crawford, Head and Fennell who have done a FANTASTIC job filling in).

Good play calling on offense you got to be kidding me. I was at the Cov Cath game and on Scotts very first possession they go for it on their own 20 on 4th down obviously they don't make it and Cov Cath only has to go 20 yards for their first score.:laugh::laugh:

 

Scotts offense is 1 dimensional they only have 2 players that they really use on offense Reyes and Sowder. Stop them and there is no offense. No passing game at all like they had last year.

 

In closing I will say the kids do play hard and yes I believe Coach Fisk laid the ground work for this years team and only time will tell if the new coaching staff can get them to the play-offs like Coach Fisk did last year.:thumb:

I saw that play too. You conveniently forgot to mention that it should have worked. Receiver was wide open. Nice pass. The receiver just dropped it. I thought it was a great call and would have been a great momentum play if the receiver had not dropped it. When you are the underdog, you have to be willing to make gutsy calls and that was one of them.

 

The Jet offense picked up some big yards, although at times CovCath stuffed it well. Scott picked up some nice yards off tackle too. No. 17 is fast, really fast (don't know if that is Reyes or Sowder, but the kid is a very good player).

 

You may be right about the pass offense. Heck I watched the tape again last night and really don't recall the Scott passing offense (which generally means it probably wasn't really impressive).

 

 

What really impressed me (in addition to No. 17) was the pursuit on Scott's defense. This is the first year I can recall actually noting the Scott defenders running to the ball even when it went to the other side and the running back was being tackled. Maybe it was there in the past, but this is the first year I noticed it from Scott. Tackling wasn't the best, but the D did a nice job of swarming to the ball.
