October 6, 200817 yr He would definitely be cheaper than Dunn, but your saying he's a better option based on 73 AB's? He's more mobile, cheaper, has a higher avg. At this point I'd feel more comfortable with him swinging than Dunn. Yea Dunn hits a lot of homers but his avg. is terrible.
October 6, 200817 yr I wasn't until they signed Lee to an extension that they put him in the outfield. And they also got rid of those three players right after the extension He was playing in the outfield all the way back in 2003 when Lee wasn't even with the Cubs. It wasn't his primary position but he played 24 games there then, about 1/3 of his games played so he wasn't moved to outfield because of Lee. He may end up being a suprise but history suggest otherwise. With strikeout numbers like he put up it is much more likely that he takes a serious nosedive in average than for him to put up numbers anywhere close to last season.

Dickerson and Hanigan are not long-term solutions either and counting on players like that without a good insurance plan is courting disaster.

October 7, 200817 yr I would be more than happy to see the Cubs get Patterson back. :lol: I didn't say I wanted him back now, it was 2003 I believe or 2004 that he was pretty productive and I was using him as an example of someone I'd like to get. He was almost automatic getting on base in Chicago one of those years.

He was almost automatic getting on base in Chicago one of those years. His career high On Base Percentage is only .329 which is well, just not good at all. He's always been just a mediocre hitter with a little pop and very good speed.
