Man I love Chicago

Featured Replies

I was up there for a bachelor party this past weekend and I gotta say its the most enjoyable City I have ever visited. I had tickets for the Cubs Clinching victory on Saturday and we hung out at the CubbyBear after the game. That place was bursting at the seams. Fans up there really love their sports teams. Wish I could say the same for this hapless area.

It is a BLAST! I've been a few times. When I was in college I was President of our Fraternity. We got paid to go to a National Leadership school there. Our headquarters was in Evingston on Northwestern's campus but we spent most of the week in Chicago. They paid for our Cubs tickets and several other things around the town. About 5 of my best friends were up there with us. We did the Cubby Bears, High Tops, Harry Carry's etc. It was a blast on game day! I'm with you it is one of the more fun towns I've hung in while with friends!

I also remember having a great time at John Barleycorn's Bar. I got home that next week and was watching the movie Primal Fear. I about fell over when he was on the phone and said "Meet me at Barleycorn's" I was thinking to myself.... I'm there man!

I agree 100%. It is one of my favorite cities hands down. Plus, if you keep your eyes open you can get some killer deals on Super-saver round-trip airfares out of Louisville (And Greater Cinci in your case i'm sure) that makes weekend excursions to the city very affordable.:thumb:

I've been twice, once to go to a Reds game, and another to do some Christmas shopping. After the winter trip, I knew why they call that place the "windy city".

Yep; stand on a bridge over the Chicago river in December/January, with your face turned into the "Hawk Wind" - there's nothing like it.

I was born there and enjoy every chance I get to go back... I dont care what anyone says, nothing beats Wrigleyville on a game day.

You used to be able to fly out of Louisville for $99 I don't know if it's anywhere close to that but it hasn't been real long ago.

I've never been to Wrigley or Wrigleyville for that matter, but I do love Chicago. One of America's greatest city's without question.

That said, I've never been in the winter. My opinion my change if I was ever there in January.

Man, you have to experience Wrigleyville on gameday. Getting off the L-train and getting street level with all the vendors, ticket scalpers, Bars, music playing.

After 8 hrs of Old Style a few of us went to Mike Ditka's rest. and sat in the bar area feeding our faces with some great steak and listening to this big heavyset guy with a beard nail Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles tunes.

I dont know how some of the guys in our group did it. Started Friday night at 8pm and most went until 4am. Got up and were in Wrigleyville by 1pm and then another all nighter til 4am. Im sure many are still hurting. LOL

I'm headed there on Thursday.

I KNEW you were a closet Cubs fan!

Seriously, Chicago is my favorite city, as well. I love the way downtown is laid out. Even someone who always gets lost (like me) can find their way around down there. And I agree, riding the Red El to Wrigley on game day is an experience all its own. Last year after a game, people were singing "Go Cubs Go" all the way to the El station. It was a blast!

And yet another possibility for the "most recognized smells" thread.

Southwest - $59 one way from Louisville to Chicago Midway anyday but Friday and Saturday.
