I thought this South team was better than last year's team . . . but then again that's just my opinion. With the way Ricky Bowling is handling the ball he will break Tim Couch's record easily this season. Good luck to the Cardinals for the rest of the season and GO HOUNDS!!!!

Well if you consider that Corbin wont play Bell anymore your credibility is lost. Coming from a outsiders point of view this used to be my favorite game to come watch and then they wont renew the contract. I had much more respect for the Redhound program will they were getting beat by Bell then now that they dont :sssh:.

I agree that Corbin and Bell should be played. Corbin has proven over the years they can compete with the 4A's like Bell, ( I believe Corbin has leads in the series) and this year would have been no exception. It was THE premier football game in South East Ky. each fall. In the beginning, I felt that way too about the respect thing, but you have to understand a few people within the program made the decision. Most of the community would like to see a Corbin/ Bell matchup. So I think its a bit unfair to degrade the program over what has happened in the last 2 years.

 

But, someone who has the authority decided not to play, for whatever reason, and as fans we have to trust that decision, and Corbin fans have to move on with life. Like it or not, we're very much in the hunt for the 2A crown this year, which is a much bigger prize than the winning game ball after a Bell County game.

The Corbin/Bell game should be played but it WAS NOT cancelled because Corbin didn't think they couldn't compete. The last game was won by Bell on a last second field goal. Corbin returned nearly everyone from that team and would have been a great game last year. The series was cancelled because of problems between Jewell and Hilton from what I have gathered. It was more than likely due to Dudley raising cane when TR Christopher planned on transferring to Corbin from Bell. It's NOT because Corbin is afraid of Bell. Corbin isn't Middlesboro. Spin it however you choose to do though.

Corbin missed on two wide open passes in the 1st half that would have went for TD's. They easily could have been up 17-0.

Corbin is further along than I expected. I thought that it would be midseason before they would be playing this well. If they continue to improve they could play well into the playoffs.

For the Hounds it is about the midseason. Of course that is not taking into account a forfeit win verses Bethleham. Corbin has played well and several young players have done a nice job thus far. The ground attack looks solid, the line has played well and the defense has been solid. LCA will present a big test for the Hounds as will a date with Mboro later in the year. Here is to the Hounds continuing to improve the rest of the way. :thumb:

Corbin and Bell are 2 teams that don't duck anyone. I believe the issue was between the 2 coaches and not because either is afraid of the other one. Saw them both last year and think Corbin would have won last year. This year, I think Bell would win. But painting Corbin as having no credibility is just an underserved slap in the face. I agree they should play. Should be a great and continuing rivalry game every year.

 

As far as this game with South Laurel is concerned, it was a dandy. Great defense in the first half (the best I have seen South's defense play so far this season) and then a completely different offensive explosion in the 2nd half. Corbin did a great job in getting heat on Bowling with only 4 or 5 players most of the night and had excellent pass coverage with most of the DBs and LBs maintaining their individual responsiblities. . In fact, at the end of the first half, Manns sacked Bowling and Corbin only rushed 2 players and dropped 9 back.
