It seems like someone brings this up every year, and I really can't understand why. CovCath-Highlands is by a large margin the best rivalry in NKY. It just is.

 

In all honesty, I have no idea what criteria anyone could use that would end with this game not topping the list. It's the biggest game of the year in NKY every year, even when one team is clearly better than the other.

 

Not a knock on the other games mentioned, but to me this question is moot.

Beechwood/NCC was huge (except our schools were much smaller) before realignment. During the season it was a "measuring up" for who was going down state, and playoff time........it was for blood. Everyone said it would still be a great rivalry, but it is just not the same. I used to take Tums with me to those games.

 

Beechwood/Cov Cath is also a pretty good one year in, year out. The fight for bragging rights on Dixie Highway between boys who played Spartans together. Friendly trash talking between neighbors....good times!

Lets really get this going and set some criteria.

Dayton/Bellevue game is what I believe to be a true rivalry. Next door neighbors and alot of families connected to both schools always makes this a great game regardless of the records.
