I'm not sure Vlad's ready to be flushed down the toilet just because of one year off his norm. He's still only 33.

One is a career .900 OPS guy, the other's a career .800 guy. They're the same age, and Bay's hit 60 more HRs and drove in 170 more runs, and scored nearly 200 more runs.

The last three years he has been a very productive player. He did undergo Tommy John surgery a few years back, but has bounced back nicely. His numbers the last couple of years aren't that far off from Bay's.

Like I said before, it's not always about going after guys like Holliday, and Vlad. Heck why not throw in Manny? If the Reds could land someone like Nady for 3 mill, or Bay for 6 mill, I go with Nady all day. Oh, and that's 3mill they still have for other needs.

Well, I went downstairs for a while, came back and now we're comparing Matt Holliday to Xavier Nady? Whoa.

 

Nady has had a great year, though.

 

I don't think Vladdy would be a good addition. I'm a huge Vladdy fan, but I don't think he fits with the Reds. Not really sure why, but I can't justify the Reds, as a self-proclaimed "small market" team giving a 33 year old player that type of money. Vladdy spent a lot of time on the turf in Montreal, and we've seen how that can shorten / ruin careers.

 

Matt Holliday would be a good addition. I like that, and the Rockies are looking to deal him. They're also looking to deal Garrett Atkins in the offseason, who is a very good switch-hitting corner infielder. I know that the Dodgers have expressed interest in both; however, I don't see those two going to the same team. Maybe they'll deal Atkins first, and Edwin could fill their void at 3rd. I'd be very willing to trade Edwin & a mid-level prospect to Colorado for Holliday. Not sure that the Rockies would be, though.

 

There is a lot of young talent on this roster, and we're a couple good moves away from being a threat. Of course, in the past, we haven't made the right calls on who to sign / who not to sign. Hopefully Jocketty can turn that around.

Yea, that one's been thrown around a little. I just felt like Nady might be a logical choice. The Yanks will probably listen to all kinds of offers and the fact that Nady is about 3 million dollars cheaper than Bay, I feel he would be a more realistic choice for the Reds.

Why hasn't Dickerson been included by anyone in this? I like this guy alot and I think he fills the leadoff spot problem.
