September 18, 200817 yr ^ How much are you planning on increasing payroll? I think they can afford it, don't you? Remember, Griffey and Dunn are both off the books. They'd still have money left over to look at a leadoff guy and/or another arm.
September 18, 200817 yr Author Addition by subtraction. Hes just not getting it done and is brutal in the field. Deal him and whoever else it takes to get a big time bat. Votto and Bruce will both improve their power #'s next year. I believe EE is getting better, and will continue to. I would be shocked if he's dealt.

They don't have as much as it seems. BP, Bronson, Harang, and Gonzo will eat up some of that money saved. I would be concerned with having some money in 2-4 years to sign our young pitchers.
September 18, 200817 yr Author If I'm the Reds GM, the first player on my wish list is Matt Holliday. I don't believe he's a FA, so who do you trade to the Jays?
September 18, 200817 yr I don't believe he's a FA, so who do you trade to the Jays? He plays for Colorado and you are right he won't be a FA.

September 18, 200817 yr Author He plays for Colorado and you are right he won't be a FA. My bad, I didn't see Matt. Thought he was talkin about the pitcher.
September 18, 200817 yr The good thing is Cueto, Bruce, and Votto won't be arbitration eligible for at least 3 years.
September 18, 200817 yr Author The good thing is Cueto, Bruce, and Votto won't be arbitration eligible for at least 3 years. True, but Bob will take care of them this off season.
September 18, 200817 yr I don't believe he's a FA, so who do you trade to the Jays? I'd be willing to listen to a lot of proposals from Colorado. Holliday is the big-stick RH bat the Reds need but haven't had since Greg Vaughn.
