Track the Cubs (Week 25)

Featured Replies

^^I just listened to that with tears pouring down my face. I know it sounds ridiculous, but the love I have for the Chicago Cubs is surpassed only by my love for my family. I don't know if other teams have that kind of love, but the Cubs sure do. They are such a part of our day to day family life--if a game is on late, the first thing my kids ask each morning, and I kid you not, is "did the Cubs win?" Not just in September, but all season long. It is a love that I feel in my bones and I can only hope that I am alive to see them win it all. If not me, then I hope my kids get to see it someday.

I love to watch the UK Wildcats (I'm a loyal alum) and we had season tickets to the Titans for 8 years (it got too hard to get to games because of my kids' sports schedules so we gave them up.) But neither of those teams can even compare to the love I have for the Cubs.

I just wanted to get that off my chest!

Yup, regardless of the outcome of this season, tears will be shed, I'm praying that they are tears of joy!

My husband's grandfather was born in Chicago in March 1908 and lived his entire life in the city's limits. He worked for the city of Chicago and raised his children as Cubs fans. He died in 1998 and never got to see them win the World Series. He often said he was 7 months old when they won and he hoped to see them do it again.

Big Z gets rocked early today.

Big Z roughed up for 5 in the first, 2 more in 2nd, and gets pulled for Marshall.

Cubs down 8 in the 2nd, I'd rather them clinch on national tv tomorrow :D

He shouldn't have gone 120 pitches in his last outing after the trouble he has had this year. Let's go ahead and start the Dusty and Lou comparisons. :D:D

He didn't throw 120 pitches in his last outing. He pitched eight more than his allotted pitch count. And still pitched a no-hitter.

Still, I would have liked to have seen the Cubs give Zambrano more rest before his next outing. The division title is all but wrapped up, and the big thing now is to make sure the pitching is healthy for the postseason.

It's likely that it's only a matter of time before Zambrano's shoulder issues flare up again. At this point, it's all right to baby him and limit his exposure.

It's changed now, but I promise you the gametracker stated he had thrown 120 pitches right after the game was complete.

Rest Big Z till the playoffs

I would hope they use common sense and do that, no reason to pitch him til the playoffs start in about two weeks.

Did you look up that Eddie Vedder song on youtube?

Yep, beautiful song. Being a huge fan of Pearl Jam and owning every bootleg show from the 2000 and 2003 tours, Eddie could sing about constipation and I would probably find it to be a masterpiece.

He is just a wonderful singer/songwriter.

Thanks to our friends on the river, the Cubs win tomorrow they can celebrate a playoff birth at Wrigley for the first time since 1998 I believe. :ylsuper:

I wouldn't sweat Z today, apparently he had to fly to Venezuela Wed night cause his grand mother died and flew back in last night, I'm sure he was just tired after all that, no reports of any arm discomfort. He's a headcase and probably thought he could throw another no-no. He'll be fine!
