Magic number down to 4!!! :banana: This is so nice considering there is still a couple more weeks left in the season. Heck the Cubs could even clinch as soon as this weekend, although I'll settle for next week, which is the most likely to happen. Good feeling knowing the Cubs should be the first team to clinch, and have played solid ball all year long in one of the best divisions in baseball. And to go along with what everyone else is throwing out there, stupid move to fire Yost if your the Brewers. I see no point or help in rallying the team with this move, instead it would just lower moral you would think. Yost is pretty much the one who brought the Brewers back to being a competitor, and he done so without the help of any huge free agents or anything like that. Don't get this move at all, but as a Cubs fan I love it.

I agree and while much was made of the ridiculous length and size of Soriano's contract, it shows up in the standings. He has been with the Cubs two years and they will have two divisional titles. I know these guys aren't playing to just win the division each year, but he helps this team and he is a big reason why they are going to have another shot in the postseason. You try and keep the payroll under some kind of "normal" control, but if you see someone that could really help, you break the bank and go after him.
September 17, 200817 yr What a gutsy pitch on 3-2 Kerry had some big cajones to fire that one at Fielder. That sucker dropped 6 inches! Very, very exciting end. Woody is going to be the death of me, though--and I'm one of his biggest fans!:lol:

Including a 10 game road trip to essentially end the year, there are two home games against Pittsburgh on September 29th and 30th to "officially" end the year. Sure enough, the Brewers home opener is against the Cubs. MLB can be cruel sometimes. :lol:
September 17, 200817 yr They close the season with three at home against Arizona And they gte no favors in interleague play with Detrpit, Cleveland, the White Sox and Twins.
