It all goes back to supply & demand. And, if what Birdsfan stated in Post #3 is true, then I think we're fortunate that the prices aren't any higher.

Big oil has been screwing America long before this hurricane. We were paying 3.85 just a week ago with 102 dollar oil.

The problem for me is that the government has restricted access to the oil industry to just a few companies, i.e. the government has removed the mechanism of competition and given the chosen companies a rosy deal.

My problem was the prices rose a good 24 hours before the storm even hit Texas. I can understand during/after the storm, but to increase the price because the storm is going to, could be coming, is a bit much if you ask me!

It sounds like your issue is with the government and not the oil companies. And rightfully so.
