You cannot possibly know that a male Alaskan governor with a similar record of reform and an 84 percent job approval rating and expertise on energy matters would not have been picked as McCain's running mate. As a campaigner, Palin puts Biden (and McCain) to shame as a campaigner.

 

Palin's detractors seem to be ignoring her strong reform credentials, which IMO, were unmatched by any of the other VP prospects. She unseated an incumbent Republican Governor who had more than 20 years experience in the US Senate, forced the resignation of the state's Attorney General, and levied corruption charges at the state GOP chairman that resulted in a $12,000 fine. That is an impressive record for any politician, regardless of gender. It is the stuff from which movies are made.

 

If Palin were a male it would remove the gimmick. It wouldn't pass the laugh test.

I'm just tired of the "Well, Obama doesn't have any experience either" argument I've been hearing a lot lately(not talking about you). I thinks it's absolutely absurd, it's make zero sense to me and I think it makes people look pretty childish and completely uninformed on the issue.

 

I am totally confused by this post. Why would questioning Obama's lack of experience be absurd? In a campaign people must compare and contrast everything about the candidates. Candidates must not be examined in a vacum but how they compare to the other choices available.

I think what BoondockSaint is saying is that when Palin's experience is questioned the knee-jerk "she has more experience than Obama!" does not change her experience level. Obama's experience is a separate issue.

I am sure that she is busy as you say, preparing for the debate, while campaigning in battleground states. You know, talking to real voters face to face who are showing up in large numbers to size her up in person. Campaigning and asking people for their votes is an important part of a campaign.

If listening to expert testimony imparted foreign policy expertise, then Biden would not have ridiculed Ronald Reagan's Cold War policies, he would not have advocated partitioning Iraq over the objections of Iraq's democratically elected government, and he would not have opposed the surge. Experience at being wrong is useful only if one learns from his mistakes. Joe is a little slow to catch on.

:lol: Wilson was an academic who studied politics and government. In fact, the idealism of his foreign policy reflected his academic roots. Having "only two years of experience in elected office" did not make him any less well versed in foreign policy or politics. Comparing Palin to Wilson makes very little sense.
