September 6, 200818 yr While my guess is that this will have zero impact, your first question is very fair. Your 2nd question is a falsehood. Unless you're like Birdsfan who feels you only get credit if you're the SOLE author Sen. Obama has penned legislation. Now back to the silliness. :thumb: I agree. I'm not really interested in a serious political discussion. I'll leave that to the people who enjoy it... And, to be honest, I wondered what the complete details were about the memior vs. legislation debate would be. And, that's exactly my point. The Republicans said it, and there's more to the story. IMO, that's a far more important and relevant question than trying to turn a factual statement into a lie. I still haven't heard an acceptable answer for Barack's "present" votes. And, the first time I heard it mentioned was by John Edwards in a Democratic debate. However, it doesn't matter to me because I've known how I would vote since it became obvious that the Democrats would be nominating either Barack, Hillary or Edwards.
September 6, 200818 yr Author She put the plane on EBAY period! ! ! ! 1 Which indicates to the Nation that she SOLD it on E Bay.
September 6, 200818 yr Which indicates to the Nation that she SOLD it on E Bay. No, it seems to me that it just indicates that to people who are so scared of her that they will use ANYTHING as ammunition against her no matter how pitful it makes them sound.

Kind of like tellling a cop you had 2 beers when you really had 10. You're not lying, you really did have those 2 beers, the other 8 he just doesn't need to know about.
September 6, 200818 yr McCain must not even know what she meant. He said this on the campaign trail recently, "You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor and sold it on eBay -- and made a profit!" Heard the quote on TV, but found it online here.

I think it's really a tempest in a tea cup but it is pretty glaring that at least McCain is still saying she sold it on Ebay for a profit. He needs to get his research people to wake up and stop him from those kinds of gaffes. They aren't fatal or even a real issue but they do cause the momentum to spin it's tires instead of pulling away like it was.
September 6, 200818 yr Which indicates to the Nation that she SOLD it on E Bay.NO! That's nothing more than an assumption that YOU made. Again, you have no ground on which to build your case. Give it up, you're wrong.

OK, he committed a gaffe, I'd venture to say he's not alone there, as I recall Obama has a long list of them himself. Point is, DD has NO point, it's a useless argument.
September 6, 200818 yr Actually, McBush's health care plan would add your personal or employee provided health care cost to your gross income. If you're employee pays say 5000.00 for your health care and you earn 50,000. your new gross income is 55,000.00 and you can deduct 2400.00. In addition, you still pay your deductibles and out of pocket cost that your plan does not cover. That was pointed out, what about the tax credit part? The point is Obama, McCain, Palin, Biden and most of the political universe engage in lies, half lies, half truths, lies by omission and every other kind of misdirection imaginable. To try to paint one as better or worse than another is playing the same game. Where Obama is hurt is the same as Fletcher. He portrays himself as something different when he's not. McCain attempts the same thing but he's been around too long for anyone to begin to buy it.

I don't see how you can say that. It's a gaffe that has mushroomed until it was called into question. (Whether it was Palin or McCain, it is being used by the same team) DD has a point, I just agree with most that it makes no real bearing on the campaign. It's no different than Obama saying we are in a Recession when technically we aren't. He's playing on the feeling of recession and using the word. The GOP is playing on the appearance of government fiscal responsibility and using it to inspire their side. Technically, neither statements are true. Politically they are probably working to some extent.
September 6, 200818 yr Or the numerous left-wingers on here who feel Palin deserves no credit for her speech since she did not actually write it herself . . . But, they THINK Obama wrote his??? Not hardly.
