September 1, 200818 yr Just want to hear everyones experiences with the fireworks. Actually Leatherneck and I spent a great night on the river watching the fireworks. :dancingpa:dancingpa OK, we spent it in Ross, Kentucky on the riverbank watching the fireworks on TV with a bottle of bourbon. Beautiful sunset, and actually we could smell the fireworks. Well no not really. The farm across the river was shooting off fireworks and we could smell the sulfer which gave us the feeling we were right there at the levee. Anyway, I hope all those party boats that were cruising down the river at about 8:15 made it there and I hope they made it home safe in the dark of night. My only criticism of the night is they talked about how it was being broadcast to the troops and I felt musically they should have done a salute to the troops timed with the fireworks.
September 1, 200818 yr I watched them on TV this year laying on my couch . I've had kidney stones since Thursday . Can't get a Doctors appointment till Tuesday morning . :madman::irked::madman: My youngest worked at the Levee tonight . To save him parking money we drove him to work (AMC) . Poor kid had to walk to the KMart parking lot because that was the farthest north I could get on US27 .:walk:Most exercise he has gotten in years
September 1, 200818 yr I think it is tremendously overrated. The music with this year's show was awful...bout put me to sleep. What was up with the chain rattling in the background of the music as if you were climbing a rollercoaster at Kings Island. It opened with O'Fortuna then went very slow.

The music may not have been the best, but I must say the timing was unbelievable.
September 1, 200818 yr Author Better and better every year. The actual fireworks are phenominal. I would love just have have one of those to fire off.:ylsuper:
September 1, 200818 yr I agree that the music wasn't the best, but the finale was awesome. I felt like I was on the river since it was in HD, and I didn't have to bother with the crowd, and I could drink some vino.

What was up with the chain rattling in the background of the music as if you were climbing a rollercoaster at Kings Island. I agree that the music seemed a little less than the usual standard. But I'll also agree with Henry that the timing was perfect! And yeah, what was with the roller coster effect?
September 1, 200818 yr Overall the fireworks are a great event for everyone to see. The problem I see is the overall cost that cities have to eat because of it. Now the private sector does great with fund raisers and other activities.
September 1, 200818 yr Spent the night in Mount Adams with a wonderful view. It was my 1st time on the "other side" of the river and I must say that I enjoyed it.
September 1, 200818 yr I went once about 10 years ago and that was all I needed. What a freakin' mess. I'm just not a big enough fan of fireworks in general to want to deal with all those drunk people. I doubt I'll ever bother with Thunder in L'ville either.
September 1, 200818 yr I hate the fireworks, but there I was last night, on the river. Never doing it again though, because as we unfortunately found out, they don't sell alcohol down there....

Is that LN's idea of a romantic evening?
September 2, 200818 yr Author Is that LN's idea of a romantic evening? Yea.:lol::lol::lol: Sad thing is, at this stage in our marriage I've bought into it and kinda like it too.:jump:
