Republican Convention down to ONE DAY!?

Featured Replies

Had this happened last week, the egos of the Dems wouldn't allow them to cancel their time in the spotlight. Not all Dems, but the ones in power are too wrapped up in themselves to put others first.

I knew someone would say something like that. Out of respect for the ~2M people who have fled their homes, I would hope we wouldn't want to play the woulda/shoulda/coulda game with a disaster that didn't occur during the DNC. You're projecting an assumption. You have no idea what any Democrat, self absorbed or otherwise, would have done if Gustav had been earlier.

I am tempted to criticize McCain for even considering canceling large chunks of the convention but he seems to be on a roll the past two or three weeks, as his campaign decisions have been nearly flawless.

I have a feeling that the Michael Moore and former DNC chairman, Don Fowler, celebrated the arrival of Gustav a little too early. I also suspect that Democrats' attempt to exploit the misery of a natural disaster will backfire.

Bobby Jindal is getting a lot of free publicity and he is doing a great job keeping the public and media informed so far. Even New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin, seems to be doing a credible job today. If everything goes as smoothly as possible in handling the aftermath of thie hurricane, Democrats who attempt to smear McCain with Katrina are going to look very petty.

Jindal is showing why he made McCain's short list.

As much as I like Palin, do you think it would look good if McCain had not made his selection yet, and picked Jindal when the storm passed?

I have no problem with the Republican Party cutting back on the convention. I think it would have been terrible to hold it while people are suffering because of a natural disaster.

Jindal is very impressive and he has shined in the role that he has played in preparing Louisiana for the hurricane. Palin vs. Jindal is a close call.

I still think that Palin was a better choice for this particular campaign because of her record of fighting corrupt politicians. IMO, this is an area of great vulnerability for both Obama and Biden. If the family members of the candidates are no longer off limits, voters may want to know about some of the sweetheart deals that the close friends and relatives of Biden and Obama have been party to.

The ethical questions concerning Obama and Biden directly will become an issue in this campaign.

OTOH, Bobby Jindal did unseat an inept Democrat and the fact that an American of Indian heritage is a very popular Republican in the deep south would have also made a great splash in the campaign. Considering Joe Biden's comment about the Indian operators of NJ Dunkin Donut shops and 7-11s, it would have been an awkward match-up for Democrats.

Former DNC Chairman Don Fowler finds it quite humorous.

What an obtuse jerk. Hope this shows up in some advertisements...

This will certainly give Sen. McCain a solid opportunity to look presidential. With so few of us actually watching conventions, I don't see the potential loss of convention time as a negative but, rather, as a potential positive.

Former DNC Chairman Don Fowler finds it quite humorous.

I can't make out his comment's. The audio is really bad. What did he say?

He said that the Hurricane hitting during the RNC was proof that God is on the Dems side....

It was poor taste and a poor comment - I hope he can rest his head and go to sleep tonight. I did notice the bandages on his left hand. I wonder what that is from.

Sick man.

Former DNC Chairman Don Fowler finds it quite humorous.

The worst part about it is his statement afterward:

One doesn't anticipate that one's private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase. But that's the nature of what we're dealing with.

Now, I'm no fan of secretly recording private conversations, but his response really misses the point.

Nice :thumb::thumb:

I'm sorry but I'm getting really tired of listening about John McCain's time as a POW.

Is that dad or son?
