August 27, 200818 yr After placing J.D. Drew on the disabled list. They gave up an A Ball outfielder. Nice pickup for insurance in case Drew is out for the year--if he can come back he's a very nice 5th outfielder. Kotsay to Boston
August 28, 200818 yr Good insurance move for the Sox and just sad for the Braves. They have not had to rebuild in YEARS, and now they have to.
August 28, 200818 yr Author An A Ball player? Seriously? Yeah but Kotsay was only signed through the end of the year anyway. The A Ball player is a 20 year old outfielder hitting .301 in 51 games.
August 28, 200818 yr Author Theyre gonna need more than Kotsay to make the playoffs They've got a 2 game lead in the Wild Card, they're only 3 1/2 out of first and they have 20 out of their last 29 games at Fenway where they are 43-18 this season. They aren't a lock by any means but I like their chances. Just what exactly do you think they are lacking?
August 28, 200818 yr Well, I guess as a fan you have to take the good with the bad. Hopefully this rebuilding won't be too terribly long, but I would like it if the front office would take an interest in going out and signing some of these guys, rather than dealing them before free agency.
August 28, 200818 yr Theyre gonna need more than Kotsay to make the playoffs Have you checked the Wild card standings?
August 28, 200818 yr How about the hurting the Sox are putting on the rich boys...  I'm loving it.
August 28, 200818 yr Author How about the hurting the Sox are putting on the rich boys...  I'm loving it. :thumb: 11-3 in the 9th. This will leave the Yankees 7 games back in the Wild Card. Looks like Yankee Stadium will be vacant in October for the first time since 1993. This would put the Yankees over $1 Billion spent on payroll since their last title? Could Jeter miss the postseason for the first time in his career? Will the motto of the 2008 Yankees be: Yankees Baseball, Pride, Pinstripes and PHHHHHTTTTT!
August 28, 200818 yr Good move for the Red Sox, given the uncertainty of Drew's availability for the rest of the season.
August 28, 200818 yr Author How about the hurting the Sox are putting on the rich boys...  I'm loving it. What is even better is Mini-Boss Hank Steinbrenner was on hand tonight--one of the few games he has watched in person this year. Hopefully it gave him an ulcer.
August 28, 200818 yr ^ Booooo!! (lol) Yes, I believe the Sox have pretty much locked up at least the WC. The fat lady has not went in to full performance yet but she has definately warmed up and ready to cut loose.
