Gregor Blanco is eight years younger (and much cheaper) than Kotsay and will inherit the position. This was not a payroll dump for the Braves, they had no rights to Kotsay beyond this year. The Braves roster is a mess and they need the young players to try and rebuild in a division that they suddenly find themselves as the 4th best team in. This will not be a quick turnaround for the Braves.
