I was thinking about that when I made my post, just amazing how far UC football has come and how much the Bengals continue to struggle despite having a "defensive minded" head coach and possible Hall of Fame QB.

 

I know this is a Reds thread, so I will add that Oswalt pitches tomorrow, so hopefully the Reds can win tonight. :lol:

For what it's worth, Bronson pitched a very nice CG tonight, with the help of some nice defense (including three twin-killings). Hanigan's HR in the 8th proved the game-winner.

Yep, with all the pennant race games going on tonight, the Reds game got lost in the shuffle for me.

 

I did glance down at the score every now and again. Arroyo will be making too much money next season, but you would hope he could still be a valuable part of the staff.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Reds went several years without one until Bronson had one the year he first came over from Boston.

The Rangers made history this year when they went 195 straight games without a complete game. That's the longest streak in league history.

 

They went into the game tied with the Tampa Bay Rays and haven't had one of their pitchers throw an official complete game since Kevin Millwood went the distance against the Orioles on Aug. 29, 2006.

Adding to that, it's also one of the things I found so completely remarkable about the ChiSox World Series win, where all four wins came by way of CGs.

Actually that was the ALCS and it's funny because I was talking to my dad about that tonight. Technically, it was darn near 5 straight complete games in the ALCS against the Angels.

 

I believe in Game 1, Contreras pitched into the 9th inning and was relieved, White Sox would lose that game. Then they proceeded to have 4 straight complete games to win and go on to the World Series.

 

Sad thing is, in just a short period of time, there are only two starters left from that rotation. Contreras and Buehrle. Garland is with the Angels, Garcia's career may be over and Orlando Hernandez is now retired. With Contreras recently suffering a torn ligament and ending his season, his career might be over now. Just amazing how quickly things change.
