OK - let's get this one going. Will Newport be ready for Bellevue this time around? Or will Bellevue take Newport lightly?

 

Newport should be ready for Bellevue this time around. Last year, the Wildcats were upset because of multiple turnovers. If Newport stops Buckler, they will win the game. Didn't Buckler have 2 of the scores for Bellevue last year as a sophomore? Newport's running backs: Short, Oden, McDay & Carter have too much speed to be held in check. Any of these 4 are capable of breaking a big run. Newport's defense needs to be aggressive and take chances. Newport fans are expecting the coaching staff to have the Wildcats ready to play, but then again, the players have to be the ones ready to play. I guess we'll find out Saturday evening.

Bellevue will win in a tight, hard fought contest. Yes, I agree that Newport will be ready this time around. Last years over sight of the Tigers started a long year for the Wildcats. The Tigers know that Newport will try to avenge last years loss. Bellevue better be ready and come to play this week.

Bellevue is always physical, I seem them beating Newport in a close one.

One on a inside the five run and another on a pass from Babb, which was a very good catch, but in saying that it was the defense which FORCED so many turnovers. The speed for Newports back should be contained with Buckler at corner and Hunninghake at linebacker. Bellevue will be ready for this one with a solid week of practice.. The real jungle cats will take this one. I can't wait to hear that fight song... GO BELLEVUE!!! :dancingpa

I look for Short to have a BIG game, on both sides of the ball and the rest of the Wildcats will be ready!

I expect big games on the defensive side of the ball from some unlikely candidates for the Tigers.

Did Bellevue loose a lot of Seniors last year? I believe Newport lost about six seniors which IMO shouldn't have an effect on them this season. The junior class last season was huge in numbers and that should be a plus for Newport this season.

I think Buckler is a little over rated IMO. I also hear that Bellevue is putting Huninghake at QB for this game because the coaches were VERY unhappy with their QB play in pre season. Anyone know if that is true? It came from a guy at work who has a nephew on the Tigers team. NPT could be tough this year. I look for the WildCats to make some noise.

I believe the loser of this game could be in for a long season. This is a very winable game for both squads. I hate to say that a week 1 non-district game has so much importance, but I think the outcome will truely point the direction of each team's season.
