Off topic but Ashland fans just how good is Campbell County?

 

The scrimmage tomorrow with CCH should tell us where to slot the Camels but on paper they are starting to sound really good.

 

 

The Camels are big and strong – and there’s a LOT of them. It didn’t look like they used many two-way players, but I could be wrong about that. They sure had their way late in the scrimmage.

Understand that there was a big difference in the O-line between the first scrimmage and the second. It was like night and day. Coach ripped them and insulted them all week. They responded by playing like a dog that’s been chained up and teased – and then gets loose.

 

The question now is: do they have to be driven with whips all season, or can they get things done without it? To quote a former Tomcat Tackle (from the Herb Conley era) who watched some practice this week: “at some point these boys have to decide to put down their doll babies and get serious about football –and get mean with it”.

 

If they do; we'll be OK.

Does Mason County appear to be way down this season? Not as much football talk in the Maysville area as in past years.

I agree TCfan – the O-line was impressive tonight in dominating the line of scrimmage. I guess the ripping that they received this week woke them from their slumber. They worked well as a unit. This is the kind of performance that I expected from them.

 

The running backs did a nice job by committee. Carter did not play (before anyone asks) – and he was not needed. We are very deep in the running back position.

 

Royalty looked poised tonight - definitely on. The O-line provided good protection and he made use of it.

 

The defense was sharp especially in the first half. The DE’s (Burns, Hush and Hardy) kept a lot of pressure on Mason’s QB. Hardy (#82 and a soph.) had some very big sticks. I’d say they were worthy of the “Bad Cat” designation. Trent Hardy is going to be a good one - watch for his name.

 

Sam Hunter got to play in the 4th quarter. I did not expect to see him back so soon. It was a pleasant surprise.

 

The Royals are going to be good this year. Their passing game just needs a little bit more polish. I wish them all the best this season.

 

Graybeard I missed tha game ,yesterday my wife and I had to move our little girl in her dorm at UK.

Big D.J. called me call a couple times and gave me some updates on how the Tomcats were doing and really brightened my day up.I am so pleased to hear our Tomcats getting after it on the football field and hitting,its been a long time since we have hit with the" Bad Cat"attitude.

This may be one of the best Offensive Lines that Ashland has had, they are big, strong, and athletic. I think Raceland's smaller line will have some trouble. I hope that Raceland's line can hold their own.

The T-Cats on their first possession, drove about 80 yards in 16 plays and took 9 minutes off the clock. You should have stuck around for some of Drew's passes.

 

As a Tomcat fan, our game is going to be a running the ball not passing it.

Ram, I heard the same thing. This could be a big year for the tomcats. I hope the Rams can play with them Friday nite. Win or lose it will help a 1a small school playing a 5a power house. Good luck to both teams.

McLeod and Demartino split carries through out the game, and McLeod had a touchdown. They both looked tough running the ball last night.

No matter how a Dave Buchanan team looks early, he always prepares his teams and finds ways to be competitive when they may be out manned. Also they simply continue to improve every week. I am simply saying do not set the standings just yet. Mason will be fine and with Coach Buchanan and his staff I know will be prepared. Best of luck to both teams and best of luck to Coach Buchanan, his staff and the kids at Mason Co. I know you will be ready for the season.
