Death Race

Really?

Who had the utter lack of self-respect required to sit and not only consider “writing” this movie, but to actually forge their way to its inarguably dreadful completion?

And how drugged up was the executive who pulled the trigger on its production? What rationale could one possibly have to spend millions of dollars filming this?

Which begs the questions, who is thinking right now, “gee, I really can’t wait to see Death Race,” and how do we make sure they don’t reproduce?

“Did you, of your own volition, pay money to see Death Race?”

“Heck yeah!”

“Your breeding rights have been revoked.”

How much smarter would our country be?

Just another disposable summer action movie, I ignore most of them nowadays. ALTHOUGH with Jason Statham, you would maybe expect something more, but either way, I'm not getting my hopes whenever I see this.

I think it looks really, really, really stupid. Not sure why anyone would spend their hard earned money on watching it.

And I can't think of one Jason Statham movie that I really enjoyed...

That being said, it'll probably gross $200 million. I don't have a lot of faith in the smarts of the American people as a whole. After all, they're driving the (un)reality TV industry.

It's an adaptation from the movie "The Condemend" with Stone Cold as the main character, which is an adaption from the book, "The Most Dangerous Game" (I think that's what it is called. None of Jason Statham's movies have been incredibily fabulous.

Everyone has gone or is going back to school, it's been dumped right before a "dead time" in theatres. Between August and the holiday season, so my guess is the film will open with around 15 million opening weekend, so you are looking at a possibly 35 or 40 million dollar gross. It will make more than it's fair share on DVD. Can you say sequel?

For those that may not be the biggest fans of Stathman, don't worry, he has Transporter 3 and Crank 2 on their way. :thumb:

How in the world is there a Crank 2? The man fell out of a plan from thousands of miles up?

That was my thought when the sequel was greenlit with Jason attached. The movie was rather fun to watch, so I'm sure they will think of a way to bring him back.

I was thinking the exact same thing the first time I saw the preview.

I honestly really like Jason as an actor but he chooses the absolute worst movies. His action scenes are always excellent but the rest is awful. In movies where he is a smaller role he has always been pretty good (Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Italian Job, Revolver) but the rest seem as they were written by stuntmen with no outside help.

I had a chance to watch it last night at AMC On The Levee but decided that since I would have had to wait an additional 1.5 hours for it to start after I visited Habanero's, I decided not to watch Death Race but I settled on Pineapple Express....which was a really good movie. I ended up sticking around to watch Henry Poole Is Here....this is an even better movie.

I had a free pass to see Death Race since it was a first-come-first-serve advance screening but I went ahead and gave it to someone while I was in the video game store there. I actually want to watch this movie just because of the action sequences. I could care less if its an adaptation of this or that, if its going to entertain me with what I'm going in expecting, then thats all I care.

This movie is a knockoff of Condemend(sp) with Stone Cold. Convics try to win their freedom by killing off other convics. Ridiculous!
