August 20, 200818 yr CHICAGO -- It's been a miserably tough season for Aaron Harang, and his 2008 became even more trying after the right-hander's scheduled start on Thursday was pushed back because of neck spasms. Instead of facing the Cubs, Harang will now start Friday's series opener vs. the Rockies at Coors Field. Josh Fogg, originally scheduled on Friday, will take Harang's place and start on Thursday Some fans have wondered if Harang should be shut down for the season and have him start fresh next season. Pole didn't think that would happen. "We've talked to Aaron and that wasn't a good idea," Pole said. "If he's able to pitch well the last month, it would give him some success to build on. If he shut it down, it'd leave a bad taste in his mouth all winter." http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080819&content_id=3333653&vkey=news_cin&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin

They need to shut Harang down and file Pole at the end of the season.

Are you saying Pole isn't helping things?!?!? :scared:  I enjoy how they failed to address if Harang goes out and gives up 281 runs over the next month. Wouldn't it be better just to sit him??

I would agree, that is probably the scariest part of the whole thing. In Pole's defense, the pitcher has to listen and make changes and/or adjustments. Question is, what do you do if the pitcher fails to listen and/or adjust? Dusty? Dick? Who answers that question.

I don't know if the Reds pitchers are or not, but it seems like whenever they bring in Mario Soto, Cueto and Volquez pitch a lot better so he does something right.
August 20, 200818 yr Griffey hits his first homer for the White Sox today, a 2 run shot. When he got back to the dugout, he took off running into the clubhouse to avoid whatever his teammates had in mind for him. Just hilarious.
August 20, 200818 yr There's not a hamstring punchline at the end of this is there? Not yet, still waiting for him to come up lame on a routine fly ball. His average has "rocketed" to around .240 now with the White Sox. It was around .180 just recently.
August 21, 200818 yr Sorry for my over exuberance, I just haven't watched a game that they actually won in nearly a month.:dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa By the way I am tempting the fates and typing this with no outs in the bottom of the ninth.
August 21, 200818 yr Coco strikes out the side, Great game by Arroyo. I wonder if the "Sox's" would like to have Arroyo back now. Willie Mo now that was a great trade.
August 21, 200818 yr Pitching effort, was outstanding by all. I cannot believe I am getting ready to type the following words......... The pitching is about the only thing that you can be excited about with this Reds' team.:thumb: Outstanding job.
