Speaking of the Ray Correll Bowl, what kind of game will Somerset and South Western play?

 

Somerset has some young talent, just not a lot of game experience. SW returns 15 starters, if I am not mistaken, and should be the favorite.

I'm not sure it qualifies as a best game in the eyes of many, but Highlands game against Ryle should be a pretty good game. Ryle has built a very nice program recently. I know they lost a lot from last year, but its a big school with a lot of quality athletes and a talented coaching staff. Plus, they generally run the type of power offense that I expect the Birds will see from CovCath later in the year. While Highlands will have 4 weeks to work on any weaknesses exposed by Ryle's power game, the game could be an indicator of what will happen when Highlands and CovCath match up in week 5. Add to that the Birds will be starting a lot of newbies in the Ryle game. I expect it to be a close, hard fought game.

How many players did John Hardin lose from last year? I have heard they lost alot to graduation and then I heard they where returning everyone?

 

They lost 7 on the defensive side and 5 on the offensive side of the ball. The replacements, seen plenty of playing time last year and for most part there should not be any drop off from last year’s performance. As a matter of fact this years team has more speed than any other past John team.

Owensboro is hosting Evansville Reitz in the Border Bowl in week 1 and for those of you that do not know Reitz is the undefeated defending state champs in Indiana. Should be a good test right out of the gate for the new look young Red Devils.

I see the Breathitt vs. Johnson Central game being one of the best. These two mountain powers with totallly diffferent offenses will go at one another threw out the whole game. I do see that we will really see how good both teams are. Johnson Central will also be playing Belfry this year, and that game will be a good measuring stick for Breathitt to see how they would match up with Belfry this year.

I am not exactly sure anyone will get smoked here...I think that this game will be closer than you think neerfan.

There are so many week 1 games that are so good it will be hard to pick. So many good programs kicking everything off with good games. I seems like that there are more bowl games playing on Fri instead of Sat anymore I think that I will definitely go to the Bluegrass Bowl on Sat and thinking about going to the Death Valley since my old high school is playing Lincoln in the second game.
