Pulaski County vs Rockcastle should be a very interesting game.

At Somerset in the Ray Correll Bowl. Pulaski Co. returns 15 starters off of their 10-2 team from a year ago, and Rockastle Co. returns 15 or 16 starters as well. Should be a good one.

I have a feeling Ashland and Raceland will be a good game this time around as well as Russell @ Greenup.

I agree Doc, I think both of these games will be good and probably better then most expect.

I think the Madison Southern vs. Anderson County will be a great game, watch for a lot of speed from Southern and toughness from Anderson...looking forward to it!

Should be two great games. The Ashland and Raceland game is always one of the best games of the year in the area.

If Rock returns to the Rock of old this could be a really really good game.
John Hardin vs Woodford Co.

You have two of the top 10 schools in class 5A playing a week 1 game. This sounds like a playoff matchup! John Hardin will be looking to role on with their success from last year, but an eager and very dangerous WC team could play spoilers? I look for this to be a BIG TIME game for Week 1.

Breathitt Co vs Johnson Central

Two big time Mountain Schools will play in what should be a good match up for both teams. BC has the tradition and players aiming for another run at a title and JC will be wanting to prove that they are the team to beat. Look for BC to win, but it may be close?

John has looked very impressive during practice the last couple of weeks the O-line is starting to gel together. This game is played at John which will mean Woodford has its hands full with the home crowd. With that being said John 35 Woodford 14.

Covington Catholic Vs. Youngstown Cardinal Mooney should be a good match up in the Herbstreit challenge.

I was actually about to mention this game. CovCath has traditionally played well against the large Cincy schools... it will be interesting to see how they do against a first-rate Ohio opponent that is not an Ohio Division I (large) school. I will say that for the recent past, many people considered Mooney to be at the very top of the state in football, regardless of school size classification.

If this game is a close one and/or CovCath wins, then it will be a very auspicious sign for the Colonels in 2008! However, If Mooney wins in a blow-out it doesn't necessarily predict a bad year for CovCath... it could be that Mooney is just really, really good this year.

I'd say that for most years here recently, Mooney would handily beat about all (maybe not all, but most all) teams from Kentucky. It should be interesting.

One complicating factor for this game is that, while it's the first for CovCath, I believe it will be the second game for Mooney.

Prestonsburg vs Paintsville

Anytime these two schools hook up, you are going to see some good football. Paintsville may be down, but Mountain Football is fun to watch. Plus these two school have a rich past.

Prestonsburg has won the past two seasons easily over Paintsville, shouldn't be any different this season.

Garrard County vs. Bell County in the Death Valley Bowl. Bell is one of the top teams in their class. Garrard looks to win their district. Should be a interesting game.

Hazard vs. Green County- Both teams return a ton of talent from one loss squads last season. Green County is a Top 5 ranked 2A squad, Hazard is one of the top ranked 1A teams.

Don't know how I overlooked that one? Where is this game being played at?

Speaking of the Ray Correll Bowl, what kind of game will Somerset and South Western play?

I pick the Blackcats in this one too. I believe that when they played each other in the 80's, they were some good games. Does anyone have any info going that far back?
