Opening Weekend

Featured Replies

What do you think attendance will be like at the Saturday night games since KHSAA moved the season a week and the first games fall on the Labor Day holiday weekend?

I think there will be little if any effect.....schedules have been out forever and I think football is already part of everyones plans.

Little to no change at all imo. Around here anyway high school football ranks over practically anything outside of a death.

Excatly. If you die, you are excused from coming to the game, otherwise, you better be there.

I wish the season would start a week early and end a week early as well. I do not know the details of changes except that of district play, but it just seems the season is drawn out too long. Basketball could benefit by havin all their players and avoiding a blowout first game of the playoff as was experienced last year will improve the season.

Heck no. Football should last till January. Maybe year round.

:ylsuper:I'm with you.

Look forward to the start of the season. My love is there with you guys.

At East Carter you must give a two week notice before you die during football season . That way we can clear a spot in the deep freeze until season's over to give you the proper respect. :thumb::thumb::thumb: :lol: :thumb::thumb::thumb:

By moving the season a week later and starting it on Labor Day weekend has done two things...#1) Hopefully the temperatures will be a little cooler than opening day the past few years, and #2) will allow for other family members or former alumni not living in the area an opportunity to come back for the opening game with it being on a long 3-day holiday weekend.

IMO it is a win-win situation.

Yeah, but it does effect basketball by cutting into December.

Basketball and the Spring Sports need to be pushed back as well. I may be living in a pipe dream, though.

I agree with you SLINK, everything is centered around the sweet sixteen. Baseball usually ends up playing their opening week games in 40 degree temps. The first few games in football are usually somewhere in the 90 degree range. I have always said football and baseball get the bad deals as far as temps go. But we live in a basketball state-although I do believe football is making a push .:ylsuper:
