August 10, 200818 yr This is a terrible picture but it's of my favorite part of the trip. This was a bar that had swings for the seats. I dunno why, but I thought it was cool. I spent a ton of time here while my girl shopped. I couldn't get used to paying less for Corona and Dos Equis than Bud and Miller :lol: [ATTACH]23982[/ATTACH] Love the swings at the bar. I spent my Honeymoon at Moon Palace in Cancun. They had a bar with swings on the resort.

August 10, 200818 yr How was the sand at the beach? We stayed south of he Riu this summer and the beach was rocky. It seems like the beach there had the same sand-filled rocks in the ocean. THe Playa area has suffered from some beach erosion over the last year. How much did it cost you for two? IM getting the itch at looking at the Turks/Caicos Islands. May do Punta Cana again, but Mexico is hard to beat.

May do Punta Cana again, but Mexico is hard to beat. There was an article in today's Cincinnati Enquirer about Turks/Caicos. We too have been to Cancun several times. This year we tried an all inclusive at Cabo. Cabo was beautiful, but the ocean is so rough, it is closed almost all of the time........Back to Cancun for us.

May do Punta Cana again, but Mexico is hard to beat. The beach was fine. Some other people had said that in years past it was rocky though. The sand was as soft and white as could be when we went. I believe the final cost with tax and all was 1350 each for a 6 night all inclusive deal. Not bad at all. We had planned on going to Daytona, but with gas prices, this was just about as cheap. How is Punta Cana ? We were considering going there next year.

August 10, 200818 yr This is a pic of Playa Del Carmen. It was a small town about 10 minutes from where we were. It was basically a 3 or 4 mile stretch of a flea market on one side and luxury stores, bars, clubs and nice restaurants on the other side. It was odd. I had the best Mexican meal I've ever had here though. [ATTACH]23981[/ATTACH] I lived about 3 hours NW from Playa for a year. It's a hub for Europeans, and is awesome. I suggest that over Cancun if you are going for culture. You can't beat the Riviera, I'm glad that you had a great time.
August 11, 200818 yr There was an article in today's Cincinnati Enquirer about Turks/Caicos. We too have been to Cancun several times. This year we tried an all inclusive at Cabo. Cabo was beautiful, but the ocean is so rough, it is closed almost all of the time........Back to Cancun for us. I saw it... Flew over it twice on the way to Punta Cana. They have some great resorts, but a bit pricey and I think most trips have layovers to get there, which will eat a chunk of your time if you are doing a 5 day deal.
