Is John Edwards' political career over?

Featured Replies

I thought it was already over!

:laugh: Well, basically it was, unless Obama if elected would had been stupid enough to give him a place somehwere within his administration.

After his endorsement of Obama, I cut ties with him. I feel for his wife, terribly. His political career isn't over but a chance at the White House in any capacity is.

I guess it would be expecting too much for liberals to finally begin admitting the double standard that the mainstream media applies to liberals and conservatives. Their decision to totally ignore this story as opposed to the attempted smear against John McCain involving a female lobbyist, for which no evidence was presented to support the story, is just one of many examples of the double standard.

The media's general worship of Obama should put to rest the notion that this country has an objective media. It is also Exhibit 1 against full public financing of presidential campaigns with firm spending limits. If this campaign was subject to those restrictions, Obama would be pulling away because of all the free, positive publicity the media has bestowed upon him.

Is John Edwards' political career over? I don't know, it depends on how many times you have to fail to secure a nomination or lose an election for your career to formally be over...;)

And as for blaming the Clintons, who's to say the tips didn't come from Obama, Karl Rove, or John McCain and the Republican party?

His political career might be over, but I'm pretty sure he'll find work somewhere.

I don't feel for her because of this. She has known for two years, and she's chosen to move on and stay with him. That's her choice, and frankly takes a lot more intestinal fortitude and backbone, forgiveness and compassion, than a divorce. If she is happy with her decision, I'm happy for her. It sucks for their entire family that this couldn't be a bygone. But, I'm sure they'll weather the storm. They lost a child, which is worse, IMO than this, and were able to move on. This too, as they say, shall pass.

Since becoming pregnant, Hunter has lived under assumed names in a series of expensive homes in North Carolina and, more recently, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Now Edwards claim he had nothing to do with this, but I wonder who paid for these homes, as well as got her the $114,000 documentary job.

There is no reason for anybody to believe anything that Edwards says from this point forward. I am looking forward to seeing the video footage of Edwards running from reporters and then cowering in men's room until he was rescued by hotel security.
This is the really sad thing about this. So much for his "sticking by his wife" through the illness and through think and thin . Yet another fraud.

There is no spin, understanding or explaining this one way.

I thought when I heard him tell the world that he loved his wife and would be by her side forever, that he was a loving husband and that his wife was so lucky to have him. Please don't ask me what I think he is now.

You support Bill and Hillary, right?

You support Bill and Hillary, right?

When I posted my remarks I was wondering who would be the first to say that to me.

Neither Bill or Hillary are living with a terminal illness, therefore, neither one of them proclaim their love to their spouse for the whole world to hear.

I guess I am just so disappointed in John Edwards because I truly did think that he loved his wife. I don't know that I've ever thought that of Bill or Hillary.

I think he still loves his wife. I think she still loves him. They've been through quite a bit in their marriage, and he told her 2 years ago. They're still together, and although I can never condone what he did, I would have to think that it's not our place to forgive him, but hers. And, if she can do that, then more power to her and them. As it is, like Bill & Hillary, this is a private matter, IMO.

I never said that I thought it was anything else other than a private matter between them. I have always said that what Bill did was none of my business and I feel the same way about this. What goes on in my marriage is my business and not up for debate with others.

I never said that I thought what Bill did was right becuase I don't and that's exactly what I am saying about John. I am disappointed in both of them but I don't think what they've done has a thing to do with their political career.

At lest Silky Pony has not lost his sense of humor over this tragedy that has befallen him.:lol::lol:

In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99% honest is no longer enough.John Edwards' statement

Maybe he meant to say that being 1% honest is no longer enough.

It is scary to watch how easy lying is for sleazeballs like John Edwards.

I will bet that this is not the John Edwards that Barrack Obama knew.
