Is John Edwards' political career over?

Featured Replies

I thought when I heard him tell the world that he loved his wife and would be by her side forever, that he was a loving husband and that his wife was so lucky to have him. Please don't ask me what I think he is now.

RK, I am sure that I have come to know you enough now that I do not have to ask what you think of him. :thumb:

At lest Silky Pony has not lost his sense of humor over this tragedy that has befallen him.:lol::lol:

Maybe he meant to say that being 1% honest is no longer enough.

It is scary to watch how easy lying is for sleazeballs like John Edwards.

I will bet that this is not the John Edwards that Barrack Obama knew.

Or.....maybe it was and he didn't think that he would get caught either. :D

I still like the Ross Perot quote,

If your wife can't trust you, how can I (we)?

Just one more example of Obama's poor judgment - assuming that Edwards was seriously being considered for a spot on the ticket or a possible AG appointment. There is no way that Obama's people were unaware of Edwards' relationship with Hunter.

AcesFull- My setiments exactly, another poor judgement by BHO.

I don't feel for her because of this. She has known for two years, and she's chosen to move on and stay with him. That's her choice, and frankly takes a lot more intestinal fortitude and backbone, forgiveness and compassion, than a divorce. If she is happy with her decision, I'm happy for her. It sucks for their entire family that this couldn't be a bygone. But, I'm sure they'll weather the storm. They lost a child, which is worse, IMO than this, and were able to move on. This too, as they say, shall pass.

How do we know she really knew? Maybe he was lying to her as well and she believed him. If it said she knew it the above article then I apologize because I didn't see it.

Bob Schieffer spoke with her, and he asked her if she had known about it. She told him yes.

I never said that I thought it was anything else other than a private matter between them. I have always said that what Bill did was none of my business and I feel the same way about this. What goes on in my marriage is my business and not up for debate with others.

I never said that I thought what Bill did was right becuase I don't and that's exactly what I am saying about John. I am disappointed in both of them but I don't think what they've done has a thing to do with their political career.

I agree with all you say above. Your first post gave me the impression you felt some sort of greater disgust for JE, though, and I just wondered how that weighted relative to how you felt about BC.

This might explain why Edwards did not choose to endorse Hillary or Obama. Maybe neither wanted the endorsement because they were afraid their opponent would leak details of the affair to the media.

So you are accusing Barack of using poor judgement by ASSUMING that Edwards was being considered for a spot as AG? I knew someone would find a way to turn this in to a anti Obama thread but come on. Unless you have something to back up those assumptions then you are just making false accusations IMO.

So if they knew about this and knew this might leak, do you really think either would have considered Edwards for AG? I doubt it.

 So now that Edwards has been proven to be the sleazebag that I thought he was, we are supposed to accept that The One never considered putting Edwards on the ticket. Classic.

The Obama Veepwatch, Vol. 6: John Edwards

Source of Speculation: Edwards himself. In a interview Tuesday on NPR, reporter Guy Raz told the former White House hopeful that his presence on Obama's shortlist was “open secret” and asked whether he’d accept a vice presidential offer or take himself out of consideration, as Virginia Sen. Jim Webb did on Monday. " I don’t expect to be asked, have no expectation about it at all," he said. "[but] I am prepared to seriously consider anything, anything [Obama] asks me to do for our country.” Voila: a spate of stories buzzing about a possible Obama-Edwards ticket.

Of course, we all know now that Edwards is a liar, so maybe Edwards was lying when he said that he was on Obama's short list of possible running mates or maybe Obama considered him a worthy potential VP but too inexperienced to be a potential AG.

Let the revisionist history begin!

I'm not saying he wasn't considered. But I believe you are stretching and showing your anti-Obama bias by saying that Obama probably knew about this and still considered Edwards for a spot. And then you said that this is probably why neither Obama or Hillary would accept an endorsement from him...so which is it? If they knew better than to accept an endorsement wouldn't they know better than to put him on the staff?
