Is John Edwards' political career over?

Featured Replies

Doesn't seem like they have very much evidence against him. She had a baby and the fathers name was not listed. She was a camera girl that John Edwards joked with...

Not very compelling evidence IMO.

Question? Is the link on post #14 enough for you? If not then here is another one.:lol::lol:

Seriously, is this much of a surprise to anyone?

Evidently it may be to a couple of posters earlier in this thread. :D

Gary, Bill and now John.... Unbelieveable. No wonder we are sinking this country faster than we can say stop..... Maybe John can appear on the Maurey show where they give the results of the paternaty test.... I'm confused, I'm not sure the Democrates will take him off the speakers list at the Democtatic Convention or elevate him as the first speaker... Sad, sad day again in American politics. I know, it wont be the last either.....

:thumb: You imo are correct in all comments.

Stick a fork in him because he is done, I'll bet he gets booted from the convention speech as well.

He admitted a 2-month affair. He claims he discontinued it before his campaign started, but admits he was at the hotel a couple of weeks ago. He denies he is the father of the child, but admits he has not taken a paternity test.

There is very little way to spin this, particularly after he flat-out denied the affair in 2007.

Although I am no fan of John Edwards, I certainly take no joy in this occurance. It's really just sad. His terminally ill wife must feel abandoned and unloved when she needs him most, a bright political future has been torpedoed, and we endure yet another scandal.

Perhaps worst of all, I can almost understand his weakness. The horror of finding that he may lose his wife to a terrible illness coupled with the strain of the campaign trail, and then being in the presence of someone who could briefly make him forget all that would be hard to resist.

I still think charactor is a trait worthy of evaluation in a candidate.

Apparently I was wrong about Edwards. I do believe his political career is now over.

Unfortunately, he stated that the affair occurred in 2006 and that at that time, his wife's cancer was in remission. Her second bout, what is now terminal, did not start until 2007.

I don't know why they would not let him speak at the convention, they're letting Bill Clinton, speak, so philandering doesn't really seem to be a deterrent.

I would like to announce that I have been having an affair since November, 2005 . . .

. . . with BGP.

Its too bad, but yeah I too that his political career is over, I thought he would the AG if Obama wins the election, but I see little chance of that now. I find this sad, mainly because I have a lot of respect for Edwards, I thought he he was a man of good values, but I was wrong.

I have always considered John Edwards a sleazeball and this revelation only reinforces my impression of the man. I do feel sorry for his wife, family, and avid supporters who believed him to be a decent human being. I doubt that this is his first trip around the block, nor do I expect that it will be his last one.

This is the really sad thing about this. So much for his "sticking by his wife" through the illness and through think and thin . Yet another fraud.

There is no spin, understanding or explaining this one way.

You are not alone my friend, I will not let you go down alone. I am guilty as well. :D

I thought it was already over!
