The KHSAA By-Laws clearly state that a transfer cannot be made for athletic reasons. In this case the transfer was made due to a job change, but then the father stated in a state newspaper that they chose Scott County over other schools because of their basketball program. That makes it an "athletic" transfer to that particular school. If he had not said anything in print there probably wouldn't be an issue.

 

I agree with Safe At Home. Other schools have had to sit kids out for a year. We had to sit a very good player through the spring and fall of 2004 in a case that I still think he was eligible to play. But the hearing at the KHSAA office fell on deft ears and the player sat out 2 semesters. I've always been a little paranoid when it comes to KHSAA decisions. Small schools seem to come out on the short end of the stick a little too much for my comfort.

They should just let anyone and everyone transfer wherever they want to. This ruling epitomizes my stance.

 

I think it would be funny if Scott Co doesnt make it out of the Region again this year. However, it would take a miracle.

What I'm saying is they will have 3 starters who are all Div 1 prospects and I cant think of any other team who will have that in their region. You can take that however you want.

I would say they probably have 4....Phares, Euton, Jackson and Guynn. Who else in the state has that? Maybe Elliott county or Manual?

Its actually probably 5, Tamron Manning could go down as one of the best ever to play at Scott County.

Who cares about D1 prospects. In the internet world hype creates perceptions, and perceptions become reality.

 

IMO there are several dangerous teams in the 11th that can compete with the Transfer Machine.

 

My guess is that by year end Bryan Station will be very good. No one talks about the guard tandem of Morones and Ashford. They don't have folks on the internet hyping them up. I think they are argueably the best guard tandem in the 11th. Both handle extremely well, can get to the rim, and can drain the long ball. Yes they need some players to come along to help them. Liggins is a very good coach. They should not be underestimated.

 

Dunbar doesn't play the hype game either. Very good coach with fast athletic players.

 

Also don't count out Lex Cath. They have a couple transfers of their own as well as the best feeder system in the state. Sanford is better than any guard that the Transfer Machine has on their roster. There will be players on that team to compliment Sanford very well.

 

These are just a few of the challengers that I think will be very good.

While I have no qualms with Scott County being referred to the Transfer Machine, but for Lexington Catholic to be mentioned in the same paragraph where you are talking about Scott County as a Transfer Machine -- it's pretty ironic. In case you are not familiar, the kid you mention in this post is a transfer and Catholic has added a couple of more themselves this summer.

:lol: Last time I checked one of Franklin Co's best players, Donovan was also a transfer. He is considered probably a mid-major D-1 prospect. Also Bryan Station has a big transfer in as well from what I hear. And when I say big hes like 6-8 I believe. LexCath gets atleast 1 a year on average. I say this not to be critical of the programs, but all of them have good teams and kids want to play for good teams.

Schools need to be addressed by their names, and their names only. Consider this the only warning.

Yeah... and one man married one woman for life, and the man could get a job with a decent company with enough pay and benefits that his wife could stay home and be a mother full time, and the dad could put in his 30+ years, retire with a gold watch and enough benefits to enjoy his golden years in peace, and their kids (who all still live in the same community) would come over for Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas with the grandkids.

 

I'd love to go back to the days of "Leave it to Beaver" too, but it just ain't so anymore.

The hearing officer also sees the information presented by the KHSAA as well. The thing about having a hearing officer is you actually get an unbiased (as much as possible) view of the situation to make a correct ruling.

The hearing officer also makes their decision AFTER hearing the evidence. The BOC probably will side with the commissioner, then it will be forced in court where another judge will make a decision based on evidence and the rules. After all is said and done they will play.
