Murray/Calloway Predictions

Many people have been talking about the heated Rivalry of Murray and Calloway. But not much talk of what makes up the team. Who will be the big factors in this game?

Murray will play Calloway, Trigg, Caldwell, and Owensboro Catholic. Those are good teams. I know Reidland, Ballard, and Fulton County are not that good. Calloway plays Muhlenburg North, Fulton County, and Crittenden I believe. I don't want to sound pro Murray, I just believe King is better and he will play linebacker this year a lot more this year. He had a lot of tackles last year including getting Willis several times.

 

As far as big factors athlman I believe offensive line play will be huge. Which holds up better and is more consistant will be a big factor. Also defense, both defenses are about the same. They must be able to stop the run as well as the pass. Both squads have good running and passing games offensively. I expect this game to be in the high 30's or 40's.

Agree with much of your assessment, except for lumping Crittenden in the weak category this year. But, Murray's passing game does not match up anywhere near Calloway's.

Calloway should have this one put away by the half. This will possibly be the best Laker squad ever. Murray is not going to be on their level this year

Senior Jamie King (5-9, 175) rushed for 1,893 yards and 15 touchdowns last year, making him the primary focus of the opposing defenses. He also showed his versatility by hauling in 38 passes for 371 yards and an Abe Lincoln (four scores).

The history data is nice, but means nothing to the kids playing this year, other than maybe that the series is tied at 12-12 (according to the Murray Ledger & Times). Don't think the Laker stats are accurate. The KHSAA stats only has them down for 11 games, so the totals will be higher for all CC players. I know Garner had 17 TDs, Brockman 31 passing.
