Adam Dunn?

Yet another meaningless stat....

That in a nutshell, sums up people who don't understand baseball in the year 2008.

I hope they keep Dunn. I believe he's the only bonifide HR hitter they have in the lineup. JR is 38 and just about through and E-5 is just as inconsistent as some of you feel Dunn is. I would like to see BP go to the 3 hole and put Dunn in the cleanup spot.

Glad you are here to add to this debate with your useless comment.:thumb:

I agree that they should keep Dunn, my only concern is that if Alonso is MLB ready next year or the year after, what are the reds going to do with Votto or him.

How many on here would like to see Ryan Howard in a Reds uniform?

Adam Dunn is not the problem. Sure, he's an easy guy to blame because of his longevity and due to the fact that he strikes out a lot and is a mediocre fielder. And if poor fielding & too many strikeouts have been the Reds problem the past decade, then I'd blame him too. But it hasn't been.

Why would he hit 4th?

Because he drives in 100 runs a year and scores 100 runs a year, add homers into the equation and that is roughly 160 runs a year he produces.

Shouldn't we actually sign Alonso & let him play a few games in the minors before we start worrying about what to do with our current MLB roster?

What's going on with him?

^ They are working on it. Its very normal for it to take this long. In fact non of the "top" players are signed yet.

I haven't heard much about it, but it is not too unusual for this to happen; however, the thought that people want to make room for Alonso before he even signs (or plays 1 game in the Reds' farm system) bothers me.

Saw a stat on one of the tv broadcasts that Dunn is 2nd in either NL or ML in homes per at bats. Something like one home run every 12 at bats.

I agree with you 100%.

The #1 pick is already signed and I'm thinking that most of the players in the top 10 are signed as well.

That was about 4 or 5 days ago when I heard that so I may be wrong now.
