July 13, 200818 yr Who do you guys this the most valuable position player on the Reds team is? Like LBBC said, if he stuck out 60 times less and still had the same production no one would say a word.
July 13, 200818 yr I wouldn't say a word if he didn't disappear for extended periods like he does. Just check he stats for Mar/April, May, June, and July. Huge peaks and valleys. Hard to win consistently when your go to guy isn't.
July 13, 200818 yr ^ I agree he was really bad for a while there but thats what you have teammates for. It's tough for the team when you have someone like Griffey in the 3 hole.
July 13, 200818 yr Dunn has the highest VORP on the team. That is Value over replacement player with the same amount of at bats.
July 13, 200818 yr The most valuable player on the Reds team is Volquez, anyone who thinks otherwise needs to brush up on their baseball....
July 13, 200818 yr Dunn has the highest VORP on the team. That is Value over replacement player with the same amount of at bats. Yet another meaningless stat....

If you are the big Kahuna on a team should your teammates have to carry you for months at a time? His numbers are atrocious for Apr/Mar and June. The Reds can't pay for such inconsistency, especially when they have nothing to show for it in Oct.
July 13, 200818 yr The most valuable player on the Reds team is Volquez, anyone who thinks otherwise needs to brush up on their baseball.... I said positon player so brush up on your reading. Yet another meaningless stat.... How so?
July 13, 200818 yr ^ I agree he was really bad for a while there but thats what you have teammates for. It's tough for the team when you have someone like Griffey in the 3 hole. Actually Griffey has produced 15 runs in the month of July, while Dunn has produced 16....Seems like Griffey's doing a fine job keeping up with "the second coming".

The Reds can't pay for such inconsistency, especially when they have nothing to show for it in Oct. His body off work shows he is probably the most consistent player the Reds have on this team. Look at the last 5 years.
July 13, 200818 yr I said positon player so brush up on your reading. How so? Because, obviously he's going to be more productive than one of the scrubs they bring off the bench. It's a pointless stat.
July 13, 200818 yr Actually Griffey has produced 15 runs in the month of July, while Dunn has produced 16....Seems like Griffey's doing a fine job keeping up with "the second coming". You seriously think he should batting 3rd? I didn't say he should but benched but he shouldn't be hitting there.
July 13, 200818 yr Because, obviously he's going to be more productive than one of the scrubs they bring off the bench. It's a pointless stat. But yet he is higher than anyone else on the team?
July 13, 200818 yr You seriously think he should batting 3rd? I didn't say he should but benched but he shouldn't be hitting there. With the current Reds roster, yes, they have no one else who should be hitting there, except maybe Phillips, but then who do you hit 4th?
July 13, 200818 yr But yet he is higher than anyone else on the team? I don't see the significance in that. So the Reds don't have anyone on their bench that can replace Dunn's numbers....They don't have anyone on their bench that can replace Votto's numbers either...It's pointless as far as I'm concerned.
