Definition of dynasty: A powerful group or family that maintains its position for a considerable time.

 

In the strictest sense of the word, they qualify by virtue of finishing atop the division for so many consecutive years. But in the sports sense; multiple championships are required, I would think. We had people arguing that the Spurs don't qualify, for example. And I know that the Braves did win one Series title during that run and that the Buffalo Bills won none, but has anyone ever called the Bills a dynasty? The Vikings?

The Bills are a very good example. Seven Divisional Titles in Eight Seasons and Four straight Super Bowl appearances. If the Braves were a "Dynasty" then so were the Bills. NEITHER were dynasties. What the Braves accomplished was impressive however.

I can't believe they only won one World Series, they had great players but no dynasty!

This whole "no dynasty" thing is laughable. They were a dynasty team of the 90's. 14 straight division titles..Guess what no other team in professional sports has ever done that. They had multiple CY young award winners. They were in several world series representing the National League. They won more games in the 90's than any other team in the major leagues. Whether they won 1 WS or 3 WS they were a dynasty team whether you all want to admit it or not.

I don't know what the Bills did besides the multiple SB appearances.

The 4 WS series losses were (3-4, 91'), (2-4, 92'), (2-4, 96'), (0-4. 99')

 

They won more games in the 90's than any other team.

Alright compared to the Braves record I say no, not a dynasty. They never won the big one, at least the Braves won it once. Bills won 7 divisions, Braves won 14 in a row. I don't know the Braves record for the 90's but I'm sure I could find it but don't really want too.

 

Now in NFL terms they may be a dynasty but I'm not a huge NFL buff.

How about the 1990's San Francisco 49ers? I'm not talking about the 1980's bunch that won 4 Superbowls with Montana. I'm talking about the 1990's version that Montana played a total of 16 games with.

 

They won 7 Divisional Titles, 1 Superbowl and had the most wins in the NFL during the decade with a record of 113-47 for a winning percentage of .706. Same number of Championships, 7 out of 10 Divisional Titles is almost impossible to do in the NFL. Dynasty?
