Is there an open asst. coaching position at Mason County for 2008-09 season?

Featured Replies

Mason Co has a Volunteer assistant, Freshman coach, JV coach, Asst Head Coach and Head Coach. Coach Moore was Asst Head Coach. When Tim Sullivan came to Mason he was JV coach. Coach Moore did not teach as he was Asst principal at the Middle school.

Chad has always been at the middle school level and not on the high school staff, but could be a candiate.

My guess is they move Jv coach Seth Faulkner to this position and hire for the JV spot,Unless his coaching on the Football team would interfere here as this would be the highest coaching spot on the team behind the head man.I have no idea what it would pay Sumo or pressrow might be able to better answer this.If they do hire directly for this spot and not promote within I would think this would be a very nice lucrative job in the state being the 2nd man in line to one of the better basketball programs in the state.

What about Chad Mefford?

I think Chad would be a great choice. A good person with a lot of knowledge of the game.

I believe this position has been filled. Someone from outside the district who will teach at the middle school.

Can you tell us who?

Mike Appleman or Robin Kelsch are my guesses

Thanks for the info, Fray!

As a rule, and a teacher will have to help me out here, a permanent substitute is someone who will work for teachers out on extended leave (maternity or proponged illness, usually).

Also, if there is no such assignment, the permanent sub will be "on-call", and get called in to sub for someone out for the day.

It is my understanding that permanent subs at Mason County work pretty much every day.

Ok. I wasn't sure if I'd ever heard that term before. Thanks for the information.

What's a permanent substitute teacher?

Didn't know there was such a position, but don't subs make over 100 dollars a day at Mason County high school, if that is so that is a good paying position and to not have the responsibilities of a teacher.

Ususally pay is based on the amount of your education and experience. Usually normal sub pay is around $70 that is with a degree...each system varies. Take a retired teacher and it would be over $100 a day. Now if it is a long term assignment....double that for the retired teacher over $200 a day...depends on their threshold set by the State Department.

Also if they hired him as a full time sub...he would get his regular teacher pay and report everyday.

Sounds like they didn't have a position...but made one.
