What about Terrence Jennings at UofL? They took a chance on him and his academic mediocrity, is probation in their future?

 

UofL doesn't have the reputation for overzealous boosters the way UK does, which has led to UK's sordid past of run-ins with the NCAA. That was more the point I was making -- that the desperation for a championship will lead to the cutting of a few ethical corners.

Liggins is in Lexington as of last night...Whether he is qualified or not I don't know but he is on campus.

Jim Schu was the one who brought up the UK boosters thing and that UK has a bad record with boosters and I don't know why he mentioned it in the first place.

You guys missed what I was getting at — the attitude of "whatever it takes to get them in school" can get you in danger of getting back on probation, because the lust for a championship amongst the boosters may lead to somebody doing something unethical/illegal to get a prize recruit to UK. Mine was a comment on a broader issue than just this specific player.

I won't post again about this on this thread because it is off subject. But my issue with Mitchell at Highlands was that he played when he was not eligible. These guys haven't played being not eligible. And for the record I also said that not knowing enough about the situation, that maybe looking back he should have been eligible. I don't know the details. Now, I do disagree with the KHSAA not letting 2 young men who's family moved across state, play ball. Especially since there is no proof of any sort of recruiting.

 

Back to the subject at hand, you can look across America and find this situation in every sport, especially football. So if your going to be upset at UK you have to be upset at most other NCAA schools for doing the same thing.

It is my understanding that within the program UK is about as strict as they can possibly be. Sandy Bell works hard to see to that from what I have heard. I am not saying it would be impossible to do something wrong, but I do believe things are very strict in Lexington.

Bell does do a fantastic job from everything I've heard, but I don't see how she can keep an eye on boosters at all times.
