Congrats to Greenup on a great year! Lawrence Co took control early and never looked back. Freshman Chandler Shepard pitched a 4 hit complete game and really two of those hits should have been caught. Greenup had no answer for him. This kid is going to be a dandy to watch these next few years as he was still throwing in the mid 80's in the last inning.

Jeff Cyrus made a couple of nice plays in the field including the play to cut the runner off at the plate after Timmy Hayes threw a rocket down on the guy stealing. Brad Laney had a nice shot in the game and you have to love the hustle of Hackney who made not only an outstanding diving catch in the outfield but also burnt up the basepathes. He hit a dribbler and beat it out. The throw got by the 1st baseman and he never heistated going to 2nd. He stole thrid with the ball going off the third basemans glove then alertly jumped up and took home.

Both teams had 2 stud pitchers on the mound. Greenup's pitcher was as good as advertised. He had really nice control early. The heat was pretty tough today and both teams had a couple of early errors due to jitters I think. Sheppard shined today though! I haven't seen a Freshman with that kind of composure in a game that big in a long time!

Congrats to the Bulldogs on the win. I hope you win it all!!!

Hats off to coach Logan and his kids for a tremendous season. You guys gave area fans a lot of enjoyment this Spring and represented your community and school with class.

 

The Shepard kid (Freshman) pitched a heck of a game and as Stick1 stated if he continues to work he has a bright future ahead.

Congrats to Lawrence Co, although I expected GC to win. Both teams represented this region well. Good luck to LC in the next game.

Also, congrats to a very good GCHS squad. There is absolutely nothing to hang your heads over. This group has had a great season and great run with this group of kids.

WOW!!!!

Greenup had their chance with runners on first and third with no outs in the second due an error and miss played pop up. But GC could not exucute and came away empty handed. Big turning point in the game. I believe that Sheperd struck out the next two batters and LC threw out Greenslate going home after the throw down to second. Ouch!:sssh: Hats off to LC. The better team today.

Great game to watch, even with the heat, and my team not winning. LC has a real chance to win this thing. Great job Dawgs and good luck, All of us GC fans are on your side now. Go get'um.

I don't see this as a upset. Lawrence Co is playing great ball and took 2 out of 3 from Greenup over the season.

Congrats to Greenup County on a very good season. Also congrats to Lawrence County on a very good win. Greenup lost it in the field today the little things and I know not getting the sac bunts down when needed also hurt them also. Good luck rest of the way L.C.

Congrats go out to the Muskies on another great season. You boys have nothing to hang your heads about. And although they are losing some great talent this year to graduation, I have a feeling that they will be back in the same position next year. Hopefully both teams will, just not against each other.
