June 10, 200818 yr I would go up to him and say, "Here you go... SIKE!" Then run. But see, that's the one thing Patterson is good at....running. He'd probably catch you.
June 10, 200818 yr I think I'd give it away. I'd get the chance to meet the player and possibly other benefits.
June 10, 200818 yr I can see both sides. The rationale, for some monetary gain can be a driving factor for some. The love of the game and getting the ball, to whom created the milestone is another. I don't fault either choice.
June 10, 200818 yr If I caught the ball I would have handed it to Jr. when he came out the next inning (and made sure all the cameras were on me). Not because I’m some “do-gooder” but because I bet I would have endorsement deals coming to me from all angles. I would be doing “Priceless” commercials for Master Card, be a spokesman for Goodwill, and be in an “I should’ve had a V8” advertising campaign. Not to mention I would have been on every sports talk show from coast to coast this week. I would have made 3 times what that baseball was worth and I would have a special place reserved for me in Heaven!
June 10, 200818 yr I would ask to give it to Junior myself when the Reds staff came out to ask me for it. I wouldn't have an asking price I'd just give it to Junior, because I'd rather see what he would give to me on his own.
June 11, 200818 yr He would end up with the ball, I know that. I would probably bargain a fair amount, but if he wanted the ball, he would end up with it.

Seriously if someone said they were just going to give it back to him, it's not like Griffey wouldn't do something nice for you considering you didn't try to be greedy and ask for money but rather you being a true fan of his, just give it back as a good deed. I would suspect one who just GIVES it back to him with no asking price would get many perks from not only Griffey but also others mentioned above.

I seriously doubt any company is going to sponsor some nobody who got lucky and caught a ball. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyways, I would take my chances bargaining and getting whatever I could get.
