Track the Reds (Week 9)

I would think attitude and willingness to listen to others is one huge reason. Also Cueto's BA against and SO/BB ratio is a lot better than Bailey's. I don't think they are even close to the same pitcher.

I understand the attitude issue and think that's the reason he's not up.

However, over Cueto's last 6 or 7 starts as compared to what Homer did last year, they are the same pitcher.

Cueto: 7 IP 5 ER, 1.2 IP 6 ER, 6 IP 3 ER, 4.2 6 ER, 6 IP 3 ER, 5 IP 2 ER 114 pitches, 5 IP 2 ER 119 pitches.

Isn't that what we got from Homer B last year?

Clyde, see what I mean?

Matt Maloney is a 24 year old LH starter in AAA Louisville. Right now he is 5-2 with a 4.28 ERA. In AA Chattanooga there's Ben Jukich, big 6'4 kid who is 25 years old, he is currently 4-2 with a 2.63 ERA. Other than those two, I don't think there's a whole lot to look forward to in the system right now.

Thanks :thumb:, I think that a trade may be needed for a quality LH starter. JMO

Mental makeup?

I know what you mean. When Cueto struggles he is learning. When Bailey struggles he sucks. Bailey would be doing NO WORSE than Cueto has done so far this season. Let Bailey "learn" as Cueto is this year so he will be better next season.

Bailey's problem is that he won't listen to anyone. He already knows it all, and doesn't want to take any advice. He will stay at Louisville until he changes his attitude.

Agree wholeheartedly. However, from strictly a performance standpoing in MLB , don't you think they've produced the same results?

The reds can't keep throwing Belise every 5th day, because they are not giving themselves a fair shot of winning every game, with an era way over 7 nearing 8, thats almost a guranteed lost every 5th day.

I'd say they're pretty close. I believe Cueto has shown more flashes of what he's capable of than Bailey did, and think teams hit for a lower average against Cueto, and that his K/BB ratio is better.

I agree that he shows more as far as an "out pitch." However, I'm talking "results" and they are the same pitcher in that area.

Bailey is every bit as good! He just needs to get the same chance as Cueto has gotten. Speaking of flashes, Bailey looked really good against the Giants last season at San Fran. :ylsuper:

To be fair to Cueto, Homer B does not have a good/decent second pitch like Cueto does.

Curve ball not bad.

Last pitch is nasty!

Bailey probably would have had that chance by now if his attitude wasn't so bad.
