I'll never forget Arkansas giving them the SEC Championship so that UT could even make it there. I've never seen a team give a game away like Arkansas did that one. Their QB stumbled and used the hand with the ball in it to stabilize himself, AND THEN LEFT THE BALL ON THE GROUND.

UT also received a gift from FSU in Marcus Outzen, who was making his third career start after Chris Weinke went down with an injury. Outzen looked like he couldn't throw five yards accurately, and all UT really had to do was blanket Warrick.

I will never forget the Arkansas game either. What was the QB's name? Clint Sterner?

Plus in the SEC title game they were down to Miss. State and came back to win.

That was also the first BCS scare as UT, Kansas State, and UCLA were undefeated entering the final game of the season. UT was the only one that prevailed. I would have like to have seen Michael Bishop in the title game

Them and the Buckeye championship team are very similar.

Everyone voting for the Luckeyes is off their rocker.

The USC Trojans of 04 were absolutley loaded.

2001 Miami and 2004 USC are the only two teams that need to be in this discussion.

After that, I'd cast my vote for '05 Texas team for third.

IMO, the those three teams are at least a notch above the rest.

Miami beat opponents by an average of 32.9 ppg.

6 players earned All-American status.

16 players from the 2001 team were drafted in the first-round of the NFL Draft.

'04 USC in a nudge over '01 Miami, because of the way they finished with the annihilation of Oklahoma in the title game.

I almost voted that way myself for the same reason. However, looking back they should have been playing Auburn instead of Oklahoma. That was a year that the BCS didn't match the best two teams and USC looked better than they would have against Auburn.

It came down to the Hurricanes and Trojans for me and I went with the Trojans because they were more exciting to watch, in my opinion.

In most of the other years I felt like at the time of the BCS Title game there was a team not in the mix that may have been better than either contender.

BTW...Best game has to be the Miami vs. OSU title game that the Buckeyes won with a guy named Maurice Clarett.

No way. That game was horrible until the final quarter and OT. Exciting finish however.

The USC/Texas game was far and away the best. Lots of drama, 3 Heisman Finalists, great build-up.

No doubt about that...one of the best games ever in college football, when you look at the game, what was at stake, monster and clutch performances by superstar players...that game had it all.

I give USC the slight edge because I think they have a distinct advantage at QB when comparing Leinart and Dorsey.

Collegiately speaking, I am not sure there was a whole lot of difference, but I would give the edge to Leinart. Dorsey was pretty darn good at the U.

You may be right...I didn't get to see that one until it was on ESPN classic and it just isn't the same once you already know who won.
