Friday the 13th remake/reimaging updates

You can have fun looking at the release dates for all the films.

After part 8, Paramount dropped the franchise and it was picked up by New Line. If you remember, Jason Goes To Hell, at the end there was a shot of Freddy's claw grabbing Jason's mask. We finally got Freddy vs Jason years later. What's funny about looking at the release dates for these films, it reminds me of how the Police Academy movies and how 6 of those films were churned out from 1984-1989. I believe the Elm Street franchise had 6 films from 1984-1991. Nothing has changed in Hollywood in regards to "milking the cow" as we have seen with the Saw franchise.

Since I'm making this post 2,000 words. Derek Mears, who plays the new Jason, is on the convention circuit and I'm hoping to meet him next year. I have heard he is a really, really great guy.

I'm behind, I guess. I only got to IV.

You haven't missed much, the later sequels are more fun for their goofy death scenes than anything else. The "sleeping bag" death in part 7 is still one of the best in horror history.

Looks great!

The series ended at 8. New line ruined it. Freddy VS. Jason wasn't that bad if you're in to both of the series' and are a true horror fan.

Why is Kane Hodder not Jason? I know for Freddy VS. Jason that got a new guy to play him because they wanted to make it look like Jason towered over Freddy (terrible idea by the way).

And where in the heck is Tommy Jarvis? lol

I saw the preview for this one at SAW V, and was completely confused. This thread, and more importantly - the info that SvFan4Life has provided, really clears things up.

I'd go see it if I were home in time, but I'll settle for it coming out on DVD.

Later.

To answer your questions when they made this Friday the 13th they wanted a more quick, skillful Jason. Kane was more bulk and all muscle. He was a great one though..

And about Tommy, this one is not going that far into the series.

I'm just not excited at all about this movie. I want to be, but I'm not.

I'm a huge horror fan and have been sadly disappointed (outside of a few of the saw movies) with what horror movies have been put out in the last few years. I rarely go see horror movies in the theaters anymore because they simply aren't worth the money.

Hopefully this movie will surprise me. I'm not holding my breath though.

I agree with the horror movies in general..Outside of a couple this genre has went downhill bigtime and is just about bringing in the money instead of putting a good and scary flick out.

Hollywood has decided to target kids between the ages of 11-16 with horror movies. Kids who enjoy a movie because of mass gore and could care less about a good plot.

It's really sad.

They should have kept him in the series. You gotta' think about it though, his character was in 3 movies and never died.

True, but the New Beginning shouldn't even count because Jason wasn't in that movie.

But yeah "The Final Chapter" & "Jason Lives" are by far my favorite two of the series...

Tommy was a character they could have stuck with until they decided to kill him, I would have like to have seen him come back in the 7th one or something.

Why Kane wasn't brought back for FvJ is the million dollar question that has never really been answered.

According to Kane he said he was just screwed over and never asked to come back, New Line says they just decided to go in a different direction and/or Kane was being difficult.

The funny thing is, the guy who replaced him in FvJ is Ken Kirzinger. Ken is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and he was in Friday the 13th part 8, the one with Jason and the love boat. There is a scene towards the end of the movie when Jason goes into a diner and throws the cook up against the wall. That's Ken Kirzinger that gets thrown.

Of course, for the new Friday film, they went with another stuntman Derek Mears. Everyone who has met David Mears said he is really, really nice.

The only Jason's I haven't met in person is Richard Brooker who was Jason in part 3 and Derek Mears. I haven't met the fake Jason from part 5 yet.
