The KY Player beat G-town Stars by 50 points. This team is crazy how good they will be when they jell together. The score was 95-45, they play again today at 1pm against the Louisville Lakers. Will keep you updated on the next game.

 

Shining Stars by about 70 over Higher Level this morning. Too bad the Players and the Shining Stars may meet in the semis instead of the finals. They look to be the two best teams in it at this point.

 

Shining Stars had a player quit last night, and their big man is out for the tournament too. They are down to 8 players for the rest of the tournament.

Shining Stars have a pretty good rosters of teams in all the age groups. That is a fast growing, high quality organization. They seem to be loading up on top talent the last 3-4 years.

 

Yea, I saw the SS 17U this morning. They look very good. Glad to see CJ Penny on the team. Saw him a few weeks ago with Charlotte Court, and they totally under-utilized him. He should be a top 10 player in the senior classs this year.

 

Shaping up to be one of the better KY AAU tournaments in a while. A lot of good teams, but unfortunately only one winner per age group. I am glad to see the KY basketball talent on the rise the last few years.

Derek Smith won 2 more games today and are now 3-0 in State AAU and 24-7for the season. Ferguson had 23 points on 6-8 treys in the win over Jenkins and TEAM KY. The Elliott County trio of Ethan Faulkner, Evan Faulkner, and Ferguson combined for about 50 points. They won going away against TEAM KY by about 15 points. Richie Phares also played well and big Andy from Franklin County is getting better and better with each game. The Elliott County trio prove night in and night out against some of the top competetion that they are among the state's best players. Lot of fun to watch and can't wait til November/December to roll around. Having a blast watching these three play the game.

Tonight in the quarterfinals, the Lexington ICE beat the Louisville Royal Family (they are pretty much Derek Smith - Kimbro) Final Score was 94 to 80 I believe. Ryan Fucci (Tates Creek), Taylor Martin (LexCath), and Brandon Wilder (Henry Clay) all had big games for the ICE. Very physical game.

This tournament has not been as easy for the DS17 as BG predicted. DS has 4 kids at prom tonight so could be interesting test Sunday. Seems to be a Shining Stars team on every corner. :scared:

Who runs the Shining Stars organization and from what city are they based? They appear to be the strongest organization in the state.

I think this Shining Stars is based in Northern KY/Cincinnati. Yes, they are quickly consolidating the best talent in the area into their various teams and age groups. Wish there were some teams in Central KY area. See their website below.

I checked the KBA website tonight, as there are also some NKY players on the squad of interest. Surprised to see they went 0-3 in the tourny, with two double digit losses. :confused:

All I can say is come to the KBA this weekend and see for yourself.

I watch them this weekend win the BCI State Championship 16 and 17 under.

They look ready good, remember three new players all D1, just wait and see!

It is Sunday. So much for the hype about the new and improved KY Players! You don't expect a team touted with 7 "D1" players to lose by 17.

 

Sounds like Shining Stars could have its hands full with Higher Level in the semis. These two teams split their two games last year in close games. Shining Stars have improved their roster since last year, but I'm sure Higher Level is improved too. Thomas is a good scorer. Shining Stars are playing with a thin roster right now.

I saw KY players this weekend a couple of times. I think they had a lot of talent, especially athleticism. But you could tell they had not played together much as a team. Sometimes these AAU squads "load up" at tournament time. And they don't play as a team, but more one on one.
