I also think Gilbert is very good.

I watched them play a couple games this weekend. IMO there was atleast 4 maybe 6 that do have that ability.

Sounds like this team was loaded. Maybe there were enough basketballs to go around....

Having a lot of talent, and being a good team are not one and the same sometimes. A lot of AAU teams load up for the State and other big tournaments. If you are only missing a key position or 2, it may work. Many times, you just mess us the chemistry. Especially if you have too many players who just want to score.

 

Saw KY players in 2 of their games this weekend. A lot of talent that went to waste. Basically just street ball. I could not believe they lost to Higher Level, especially by 17 points.

 

If you like team basketball, watch the Shining Stars or the Lexington ICE.

This may be true about the Derek Smith All Stars, but it is not true at all about the Shining Stars. This weekend was the first time that the Shining Stars had all their players at the same time, and that wasn't even until the two games on Sunday, after they played team Kentucky. This was the first time that Vee Sanford has played with them as well. You make it sound like they have played alot together and that is simply untrue. They rarely have a practice and are at full strength.

I was going to say it, but you said it for me. The Shining Stars hadn't played together all season until this weekend and hadn't practiced as a full unit all year either.

There are about 7,400 views in this thread that I started in a little over a week, so there is interests, not in just one or two teams but ALL of the teams that played!

 

Your first post slammed one team, MY TEAM! You were wondering why all of the interest in my team, there was plenty of interest in all of the teams, people on this board choose which teams to show interest in and which ones to support. Well, all but you, who comes on and asks why the interest and don't have anything but negative comments!

 

The KIDS know what is up and would be the first to admit what I stated, I guess they know a little about the team more than you, plus they are not going to lie and fool themselves either. We had 5 strong players, that could go with any team there this past weekend, then 2 players that could give us a few minutes here and there, the SS and DSAS could sub players in very deep into their bench and not lose much if anything at all. The other teams and coaches knew this, most of the fans could see this, but most importantly our players know this.

 

 

Not taking away anything from any team or win, they had what it took to pull out the wins, they had depth as well. Again, congratulations to those who won.

 

 

I saw Team Kentucky play last year a couple of times and I know the Coach is doing a great job. You can tell he knows his stuff and he is in it for the kids. I would say he is doing it because he enjoys the kids and trying to help make the ALL better players. I don't know him but he seems like a :fire: guy and a very knowledgeable Coach.

 

Speaking of that, how was the coaching this week?

Well, Thank you Rowdy, whoever you are. The coaching in the 17s was very good, unfortunately I did not have the time to watch more than just a few minutes of the other age groups play. I have been kinda busy and as soon as the game(s) are over I had other things on my mind, A LOT is going on right now, and these kids do help relieve the stress.

 

But, to that one poster, my first post to you was simply to say that there is interest in all teams, no matter what the final outcome of the game(s), and I was simply trying to put what we were dealing with and the depth other teams had, which is great for them, but bad for those who face them.

 

As Shooter stated, this was for fun, for bragging rights, now the teams (that do travel) must gear up for the recruiting season in July, that is where is really matters, getting all of these kids seen by colleges. Wins really do not matter in the spring in summer, it's trying to work the kids to improve, both for their high school teams as well as college, and to get play as many games in front of college coaches, those coaches don't care if your team wins or looses.

 

Again, Good luck to all of the teams the rest of the summer.

All 4 are good players. Wilder shoots pretty well with Schuette guarding him - at least he did on Sunday. They had a great battle going on. Barnette (2012) did a really nice job defending Gilbert in the 4th quarter after Gilbert had scored several quick baskets. With Kimbro leaving the state, Stenzel and Fucci are the best in the class of 2011 with Wilder, Schuette, Martin and Gilbert close behind. It will be great to see how these guys develop over the next 3 years.

Me too .... I hadn't heard Kimbro was leaving KY. Last I heard he had a broken wrist and was just out a few weeks. A reinury from last season was the word I had got. Anyone got more up to date info?
