Jacob Jenkins, who told me he's staying at Manual High School for his senior season despite recent rumors, put on a show today. He had 28 points in an afternoon game and then netted 33 against the Chicago Express. He's playing for Team Kentucky.

 

 

The older Derek Smith All-Star team - featuring Elliott County standouts Ethan and Evan Faulkner and Jonathan Ferguson - looked really good tonight in smashing one of the Southern California All-Star teams.

Jenkins is an amazing player. I think the best prospect in Kentucky this upcoming year. Doesn't he have multiple D1 offers? My money is on Jenkins because I don't think there is a player in the state that can guard him. When he is on the floor he is the team. The other players just need to feed him.

The KY Players will be fun to watch! They get up and down the court very well with alot of dunks. They have a chance in the 16u AAU State. All five shoot the three and handle the ball very well.

 

Agree, I'm familiar with most of the teams, and of those teams, I think the favorites for 16U in no particular order are Derek Smith, Shining Stars McFarland, KY Players, and Charlotte Court. Dunks are fun to watch but of course don't win games.

Every one that follows basketball can see that dunks do not win games. But the fact that all five handle the ball on the fast break and can finish at the rim, does win games. Along with all five players can hit the three wins game also. The only ? is can they rebound with the other teams? Like I said before it will be fun to watch! I agree with your top teams in 16U group. The KY Players have 4-5 D1 players. :banana:

Just curious, what are the names of the players on this team?

I wish Jon Hood were playing there this weekend. It would be a chance to really see the best the state has to offer. I believe all the other top players are going to be there.

Who? Ricardo Johnson, Elijah Pittman, and Gelawyn Guyn? I do not believe J. Johnson is D1. I don't know who the 5th is you are referring to. All of these can finish at the rim, but I didn't think Elijah Pittman looked comfortable putting the ball on the floor and driving to the basket. He seems to prefer to spot up for 3's. These 3 are probably prefer to play more on the perimeter. If I remember right, the overall talent level of the Players drops off pretty significantly after their first 5. Depth could be an issue unless they have added more guest players.

 

I believe some of the other 4 teams I mentioned also have very good 3 point shooters and ball handlers.

 

Charlotte Court is very athletic.

 

I don't see any dominant team in the 16U division this year.

Kentucky Thunder 17U is mostly made up of Muhlenburg North players.....Clark, Dillingham, Oates, McElwain, etc.......I heard they picked up Civils from Muhlenburg South and Alex Stivers from Daviess Co.

People make choices for different reasons, play on a team loaded with D-1 talent and it's up in the air on how much you get in, or play on a team that has hard working mostly KY kids and be one of a couple or the premier player.

Yes. He was picked up for Indiana Elite One as a guest for the King James tournament. He is looking at joining them for tourneys in July also. The same thing as they are doing with Sutton and some other players. He also has a camp schedule to deal with too.

 

Manual will also have its share of major events too. King of the Bluegrass, Louisville Invitational (LIT), 5th/3rd Bank Classic, Fast Lane Showcase, Hoopfest, and possibly another out-of-state tourney.

I watch them this weekend win the BCI State Championship 16 and 17 under.

They look ready good, remember three new players all D1, just wait and see!

I saw the KY Players play once this year in a 46-42 loss to the Shining Stars in an AAU Super Regional. Guyn did not play for them then. Guyn could give them the consistent guard play they need and enough to make them the tournament favorites. No doubt, they are a good team anyway. I am pretty familiar with their team and players.

 

Who are the 3 new D1 players in your opinion? Guyn? Who else? If they have added a couple of other ringer guest players or new players to complement Ricardo, Pittman, and Guyn, then they could definitely be much better.

 

I'll be interested to see the game between them and the Georgetown Stars if Euton and Jackson and Flannery play. That could be a good game.
