How big is Cottrell? This team sounds very young, but hopefully they can use this year to gain experience and surprise some teams. No seniors at all? Thats crazy!

Dustin is 6'1

Thats not too big at all, but for a freshman he might grow a bit. Some players can play bigger than thier height though. Is this the case?

No.

He's not likely to get much bigger. He's very mature for his age now. He will be a good player, so I don't want to sound like I am slighting him, he's just not the answer for the inside needs at Walton.

In the past Dustin does not like to bang inside , he likes to take the shot. He may get a bit bigger , but I would say hes close to done.

The reason they have no seniors is the coaching. Last year many of the juniors, now seniors, got played over by some of the sophmores that weren't better. It isn't crazy, its coaching problems.

Dustin Cottrell is strong for only being six one though. He doesn't like to bang with the big boys either. He would rather stay out of the paint and shoot. Although he is a beast on the boards.

The sophmores were better.

I have to agree with bearcat26 on this one, I witnessed alot of what went on in that school last year. The "juniors", now seniors, were not given the chance to prove themselves, the younger players had talent but I think that they were not better in any way.

Can anyone spell "CONTRADICTION"? Dustin will be fine player. As far as there being a coaching problem, this years Senior class would have been one of the weakest Senior classes in a long time. I'm not sure what was left to prove. Walton is still a year or two away but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Couldn't disagree more! I have to agree with Weakside. The seniors would not have had any significant contribution.

I would think they had the chance "to prove themselves" every day in PRACTICE.

Bennet is a very good coach and from what I hear ponder and Sullivan are nice young players. They may take their lumps early but should be right there in the all a classic.

You would think that, but that wasn't the case. I not saying every junior last year was amazing, but there were a few whom should have played a whole lot more than they got. In game situations if they messed up once they would be out for the rest of the game. Just because their last name wasn't Ponzer or Sullivan. Don't take me wrong they are both very good athletes and ball players but Coach Bennett didn't care about the juniors and thats why they have no seniors now.

Most players who don't like to bang aren't usually good rebounders esp if they are only 6' 1". Dustin used to be one of the biggest guys on the floor but it seems that he grew early and now will have to adjust to playing against kids several inches taller esp in the varsity games. I'd say he has the talent to make the adjustment.
