Walton Verona 2008/2009

Featured Replies

You would think that, but that wasn't the case. I not saying every junior last year was amazing, but there were a few whom should have played a whole lot more than they got. In game situations if they messed up once they would be out for the rest of the game. Just because their last name wasn't Ponzer or Sullivan. Don't take me wrong they are both very good athletes and ball players but Coach Bennett didn't care about the juniors and thats why they have no seniors now.
Not having seniors that can't contribute, is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm trying to figure out which juniors didn't get a fair shake. One junior quit last year during the middle of the season, which wasn't a big loss. Another junior was hurt the majority of the year. Maybe the other juniors should have considered changing their names.:thumb:

As an old friend of mine would say, "back to the topic at hand". What does Walton-Verona need to do to improve in 2008/2009? Cut down on turnovers, take higher percentage shots and play better WEAKSIDE defense.:D

Which players are you talking about? Who quit and who was hurt?

None of the juniors got hurt. The player you are talking about that quit is Mitch Harper correct?
There are a lot of high school kids that look at this site therefore i'm not interested in posting names. Again, "back to the topic at hand"...bearcat26, what DO YOU think Walton-Verona needs to do to improve on last season?;)

OOPS....sorry. Didn't mean for that to post twice.

They need size. Which they don't have. They also need to take better care of the ball. They need to be better conditioned than every team they play because they will never outsize a team. As someone said earlier they will need to shoot a lot of threes and you live and die on the three, so they will have to shoot a lot in practice.

I think the Harper boy may have quit.
I think you may be right.

The reason they have no seniors is the coaching. Last year many of the juniors, now seniors, got played over by some of the sophmores that weren't better. It isn't crazy, its coaching problems.

From What I remember watching, the Sophmores had more talent. I would just think the coaches thought the same thing. The coaches were probably playing to Win the Game!
