Is it Galloway? Tubby, I believe started the ball rolling with Patterson and Miller, don't know about Liggins. Does anyone know for sure(not counting verbals) if Galloway and maybe Liggings were recruited from start to finish by Billy G only?

From start to finish is only Galloway and Liggins, and Alex Legion although he didn't pan out to well and I don't even know how much recruitment was involved in his case. But he hasn't been here two years he became coach last April so it's only been one year.

That is also the name of the game in recruiting these days. You have to be on kids their Freshman and Soph. years to have a good chance. BCG has been at UK just over a year's time now. To bring in any of the highly recruited prep stars would be an accomplishment in itself. While many had invisioned 3 McDonald's All-Americans would be signed every class, it does not just happen over night. Bringing in Miller was huge for BCG. The other misses he was too far behind on but made good pushes for. The groundwork is being laid, but you can see progress already with the class of 2010, which is what the main focus of recruiting should be on right now.

 

Any kid for next season is BCG's work.

As bugatti said, recruiting is a 2 or 3 year process.

John Pelphrey has a good class coming in at Arkansas and he has been there for the same amount of time.

There is no chance that Darius Miller would be here if Tubby was the coach.

Arkansas has 2 four star guys and 4 three star guys coming in.

 

Kentucky has 2 four star guys and a five star guy.

 

They're still looking at a four star (McCoy) and two 3 star JUCOs (Harrellson, Maze)

Well as far as I'm concerned he has only started and finished with Galloway(juco) and maybe Liggins for 2 recruiting classes and both are borderline on qualifiyng academically. I like BCG as a coach and all, but if this was Tubby(I mean c'mon) this is the University of Kentucky.

I concur with the previous post about Miller...there is no way Miller would have been at UK with OTS as coach.

One thing with recruiting the elite kids, particularly post players, unless you have one right in your hometown, you really have to establish contact and maintain it roughly from their freshman or at least their sophomore years.

BCG has really only just begun that.

You can see some early returns with the verbals he has in the future classes.

He has also been handtied to an extent by an unbalanced roster...it is hit or miss many times with kids in the spring in which you are scrambling.

I have nothing but positive things to say about BCG and his recruiting...they had more underclassman on campus the last calendar year for unofficials than OTS probably did in his last five.

He did recruit last season and this season, right? This years class will soon be done and carry into BG 2nd season as coach, his 3rd class will before 3rd season of coaching and so on and so on

If recruiting started after the season ended then you would have a legit point.

 

Go take a look at the recruiting classes for the next couple of seasons, a good portion of the kids have already verballed to their respective schools.

 

It is not easy coming in to the party late and expect to snag a kid.
