And which are on the other end of the spectrum...rude, unapproachable,disrespectful, etc... I am particularly interested on any insights you may have about current or former Reds' players, even back to the BRM days, if you go back that far. Which Reds' players, past or present, were the nicest/nastiest?
April 19, 200818 yr I lived in Cleveland when Thome was there. The fans absolutely loved him. He would sign autographs for as long as he could. He would pose for pictures. He did a ton of fund raisers, just a great guy.
April 19, 200818 yr Mike LaCoss, former Reds and Astros pitcher, was a complete donkey when I asked him for an autograph when I was 12. A total turd. Tito Landrum, former Cardinals OF, was very engaging and gave our group authogrphs that same night. We also had a group pic made. Nice guy. Lou Brock was also very accessible.

April 19, 200818 yr ^ Being a Braves fan I have never heard of any instances in which he hasn't been friendly. He always helps with children, signs a ton of autographs and always has something good to say. I was surprised to see him on that list.

April 19, 200818 yr I was suprised to see Chipper + ARod. I wonder if that is more jealousy. I figured Casey would be #1 but not by that much! That's a landslide! I figured Poppy would be up there too. My favorite player of all time is Johnny Bench. I'll have to say he broke my heart as a kid when he gave 2 kids a couple of baseballs sitting about six seats down from me. He didn't even look my way. That was when I was still packing a little baby fat:) We were at a game when I was in college. Everybody had a few cocktails and we were determined to get a little kid in front of us a baseball. When the kid + his mom went to the bathroom I yelled at Tom Hume (pitching coach at the time I think) and told him why we wanted a ball. Sure enough he brought us one the next inning. We gave it to the kids dad and when they got back he gave it too the kid. It was pretty cool! I don't know that Tom Hume is the friendliest guy ever but he sure threw us a bone that day!

April 19, 200818 yr The friendliest guys I have met personally would probably be Frank Tanana, Sid Bream, and Ted Power. If anyone gets the chance, you should listen to Ted Power tell his chilling story about being invited to go on a boating trip but having a feeling deep inside not to go. Of course, the boat crashed and his best friend on the Indians team died. That story brought tears to my eyes and really gave me something to think about.
