I disagree with you on it being overwhelming against six classes. Other than the 4A game last year the finals produced a lot of good football.

 

I'm not saying that I am against the six classes, I was only relaying what I have hear, mainly in North-Eastern Kentucky, and what several members have stated on BGP.

 

Personally, I like the six class format, but would prefer cross district playoffs with only the top two teams making the playoffs from each district.

It had to be changed back. Look at these regional championship match-ups. You had Corbin @ New Cath, Letcher Central@ Highlands, and the worst of all, Prestonsburg @ Desales for the Regional Championship. Thats crazy!!!!

The 6 class system is okay I guess, but, it seems to water down the classes..Then you get back to 0-10 or 1-9 teams making the playoffs because of 4 team districts.. I thought the 4 class system was better..Just not enough teams in Ky to justify the 6.. If you want to expand, at least go to 5, not all the way to 6..I like the idea of limiting the # of teams in the largest class, because that seems to be where the biggest enrollment variances are..Cut 6a down to the biggest 20-24 teams and add any that prefer to play up and then divide the remaining teams up to 4 equal size classes..I do like the playoff system where you play your neighboring district teams instead of teams from your own district, in the 1st couple of rounds...

I'm content. If the Shamrocks take care of business in the regular season and the first three rounds of playoffs (at home), then the Rocks would have to "travel" to Papa John's and face St. Xavier for the right to play in the 6A title game the following week.

 

As far as gas prices, I understand from a driver that Jefferson County schools purchase "futures" for their system and currently are spending around $2.00 a gallon for their diesel fuel.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, the KHSAA has a position of willing to try things to see if they work and if they don't, to change back. Now that may be flip flopping to you. To me, its being willing to try things to make football better in the state and not being too proud to admit the change didn't work. Oh well, I guess its just a matter of being a half full or half empty kind of person.

I always like the Thanksgiving weekend state championships when there was 1 less week of playoffs and only 2 teams from each district made the playoffs. Really made it a tough playoff game from the get go and put alot more emphasis on district play.
