April 10, 200818 yr A 40-year-old Highland Park man who promptly turned in $140,000 he found last month has been given a $2,000 reward by the armored car company that had lost the money, it was reported today. Eli Estrada was on his way to work when he found $140,000 in unmarked $20 bills bundled into $20,000 wads in a bag in the middle of Gridley Road in Cerritos on March 11, the Los Angeles Times reported. "I'm rich," was his first thought, but he immediately decided to turn in his find because keeping it would be wrong, The Times reported. http://ktla.trb.com/news/ktla-foundmoney,0,6399248.story **I wonder if he had a "Dave Chappelle" moment when finding out he was rich.
April 10, 200818 yr Hard to say until you are in the situation. I would like to think I would turn it in also.
April 10, 200818 yr I might've turned it in because I'd worry about them tracking it, but honestly, except for that fear, I think I might've kept it. That sure is a powerful temptation.
April 10, 200818 yr Lets all be honest. How many of you would have turned the money in ? I think at first I would have not told a soul. Then I would have realized how much money I had found and turned it in. Not because it's the right thing to do, but because I think having that much money in cash would have freaked me out. Completely different story if I found a few thousand in a sack somewhere though.

My thoughts exactly :thumb: Great minds think alike. Like I said, 140,000 is nothin to sneeze at. If I find a grand or two though, I'd keep it.
April 10, 200818 yr The question is... Did he find $140,000? Or did he find $200,000 and turn $140,000 in? If I find $140,000, I'm probably keeping some of it.
April 10, 200818 yr Also, what happens if the money doesn't get claimed ? It already has. It was Brinks money. They gave the man a $2000 reward. I think they should have been a bit more generous considering what their loss could have been.
April 10, 200818 yr I would have turned it in. I dont want this guy hunting me down, looking for the missing cash ......:sssh:

Yeah, I read that part and agree that the 2000 dollar reward could have been a little more. It's better than nothing though. I was asking what would have happend if the money wouldn't have been claimed ?

I was asking what would have happend if the money wouldn't have been claimed ? I think after a period of so many days, the money goes to the finder. BTW, that's considered taxable income.
April 10, 200818 yr BTW, that's considered taxable income. Isn't everything? I like to think I would turn it in. About 50/50 honesty and fear of getting caught. I mean, really, if I find $140K laying around, there just has to be a hidden camera somewhere nearby.
