How hard did the Jr. High or High School try to get a game with New Harlan or HC?????

I can see Harlan stopping the New Harlan series temporarily to build confidence. It's going to be hard to be a Class A power (as someone asked) though and still avoid playing New Harlan. That was my one and only point. Do you disagree?

 

Harlan County had to play whoever they could find, which is why they are going to Grayson County, Va., for instance. Lynn Camp plays up every year against Whitley County and others, so the Harlan County matchup is not that unusual. If I could make Harlan County's schedule I'd probably play a couple of smaller schools mixed in with a majority of schools at the 4 or 5 or 6 A level.

 

There are inconsistencies in many schedules, I'm sure. Harlan is playing Perry Central and Clay County but won't play Harlan County, for example.

I think Harlan is playing Clay Co. which will also be a 5A school.:confused::confused:

I was just wondering why does Harlan not play in the Jr. High CVC anymore. I was also wondering why Harlan is not going to play HC in the Rax bowl when they will play other large schools? I am not trying to make Harlan fans mad.

How many wins are foreseen for the Dragons?

Get you facts straight HDE I know for a fact that Harlan needed games in the 5-6 grade level and called numerous times to the county schools middle school AD and could not get a game. They asked to play every team including New Harlan, so avoiding is not what happened last year. I wonder if you would answer the question that was asked about consolidating all of the county middle schools for football, you sort of side stepped that one. Ask the coaches and parents of Evarts and Cumberland if they felt they had a fair chance to compete against New Harlan for the last few years. Finally if your opinion is that you don't build a program by avoiding better competition then what say you of HCHS playing Class A Power Lynn Camp, BTW no disrespect to either program but it seems to me that as long as it is ok for one it shouldn't be bad for the other. The conference teams that we are in has Middlesboro Lynn Camp Williamsburg Pineville all the same size schools as the High school what a novel idea.

I have said all along that Harlan County needs to avoid the city schools next year and every year after that because the city only wants to play when it is better for them. The city wants to play one year and then decides not to play the next. The conference was set up to include the city schools. Harlan decided not to play. I understand that the city was looking out for what was best for them and I agree. However, I know for a fact that it put the county in a bind as far as games. It was set and they refused. It's my opinion that Harlan County needs to play in the conference that was set up and let the City play in the league they set up. They need to set up their own basketball league also and run with it. I just think that would be what is best for all involved.

Why in the world would you play Perry and Clay and not drive less than a mile to play Harlan County. This just doesn't make sense to me. Again, as hard as it is for HCHS to get a full schedule with only 3 home games it looked like the city would of stepped up and been able to fund the entire football program from this game. I really feel this was a knock by the city but hey the county is always the problem. Yeah right!

I'll start it off then...how about HHS being slightly favored v. Knott and Pineville and underdogs v. Lee and Hazard...that puts them 2-2 on paper after week 4. Someone take it from there.

OK...great story...though off topic, but I'll brag on your girl.

 

Down 10-9 after 4 innings to a team we haven't beaten this year, I was torn on keeping my promise to pitch a certain 9 year old for the first time. Starter was doing well and it was "keeping my promise with mom/sister/and granny watching" v. "putting her out there under too much pressure and having her cry after the loss" (yes, our team actually was aware of the competition last night and played the best we've played all year).

So, we took a team vote after I laid out the 2 possibilities as honestly as possible to the girls before taking the field...my daughter proudly spoke up that we should keep the promise, we'll help her and take whatever result comes...the other girls followed unanimously...so off we go.
